im sure doctor izzy will think of something to counter the efffects of their telekinisis abilities..... and if im not wrong ALL the advisors u see in episode 2 are just only in larvae stage...

the vortigaunt said dont even let the advisors hatch.....

and if its so powerful in larvae stage / i shudder to think wat they would be in adult form :X

hmmmm, you mentioned vortigaunts, maybe they'll make you something like in the original half life2,(bug bait), maybe somthing like that...or maybe like that magnessin device? valve is always gonna come up with a cool way to kill something

also, the larvae, what if they do morph into something else? OMG what if they have like a king advisor!? that would be insane...

I reckon it will be a mod for the gravity gun that will do the job, either by the Vort's or by the G Man.

Telekinetic energy is basically brainpower, or electrical energy. I propose they combat it with portal technology tying the energy from one large generator to the Advisors via 3 portals you place and a modified Roller Mine placed on the Advisor to attract the current. There would be a portal near the generator to tie to those you place. You'd have to place the portals in locations surrounding the Advisor to triangulate and focus an arc of high powered current at them overloading their brains.

This of course assumes we will in fact see the Portal Gun make an appearance in EP 3 and it would be a modified version of it whereby you could designate a main portal as an input path and a few others as an output. A modified weapon by Dr Kleiner vs Magnuson this time around if you will. I'd much prefer to hear Kleiner's ramblings than Magnuson anyway, at least he's funny to listen to. Alyx would be the one responsible for the modified Roller Mines. They could even have an amusing practice session with lesser current using Dog as the Advisor.

Of course earlier in the game before this final battle against the Advisors we'd have access to the standard two portal Portal Gun just like we did the throwing of the heli mines before playing with the Magnuson Devices in EP2.

Couldn't get this in within the edit time limit.

They could add challenge to the method of killing the Advisors mentioned above by making it so misplaced Roller Mines would result in damage to the generator as it would be necessary to discharge the current into the Advisors or it would release too much current freely without grounding.

This would mean you'd have to wait for the generator to recharge monitored by Kleiner whom would tell you when it's ready to fire again. Meanwhile you'd have to take cover and fend off the Advisors via the primary fire of the Gravity Gun which would stun but not hurt them, much like flipping over Antlions.

To ensure that this added challenge is not circumvented via reloading quicksaves before the Roller Mine placement you would not have save ability during this bossfight, at least not on the highest difficulty level anyway.

Sorry for the triple post, just had another idea. You could make this Advisor boss fight as challenging as gunship battles by them having the ability to bat down the modified Roller Mines. This would make it so you'd either have to take cover and catch them off guard with your Roller Mine placement or get in dangerously close to their telekinetic powers and/or melee attacks and stun them with the Gravity gun then place the mines.

I think in E3 fighting and killing one would be like fighting a gunship. I mean we already know Episode 3 will take place on a ship but we dont know exactly what type of objects will be on the ship. It will most likely be us fighting one on the deck of the ship with some weird new weapon while avoiding cargo containers and other objects. I doubt there will be Magnuson Devices because.....well we know advisers like to stay mobile in less their victim is immobilized so it would be like throwing a rock at a bird. If we use rockets they will probably of a defense against it like knocking it out of the sky with a claw and trying to guide a rocket while avoiding large objects would be way to hard. All i know is if valve lets us fight one then they have to make it good and challenging but not impossible.

Remember when that one adviser picked up and crushed the barrel in episode two just before picking up Gordon? It seemed relatively uncertain of what it was holding when it grabbed the barrel - it seemed to just blindly poke at it before crushing it.

So what I'm wondering is, what would've happened if that barrel was actually an explosive tank? Would the Adviser have just blindly crushed it as well; resulting in it blowing itself up?

If that were the case, that might be a simple way to trick an Adviser into killing itself.

Other than that though, it seems that advisers need to get relatively close to you to use their telekinetic powers, so I say just shoot 'em from afar. Heck, if Dog could hurt an Adviser by wrestling it to the ground, kinetic weapons such as bullets should theoretically do the same. Given that Advisers don't knock the bullets away via telekinesis.

As for adult advisers, We'll just have to see what Valve comes up with.
