Half-Life 2: Episode One General Discussion FAQ

Welcome to Half-Life 2: Episode One FAQ. Please read this first before posting on this sub forum.
This FAQ covers basic info about Half-Life 2: Episode Two along with answers to typical questions. For forum behavior and usage refer to FileFront GamingForums FAQ, here you will only find additional rules and suggestions concerning this specific sub-forum.
1. About Half-Life 2: Episode One.
Half-Life 2: Episode One is a first episode for Half-Life 2, direct continuation of Half-Life 2 story arc. As far as Valve has announced it is the first of three epsiodes to come.
As all new Valvee titles it requires account in Steam (Valvee's on line software distribution platform) and Internet connection in order to unlock retail version or download it.
Storyline focuses on direct aftermath of Half-Life 2 events and starts in the point where Half-Life 2 has ended. Therefore main character is doctor Gordon Freeman and game covers main line of plot.

2. Additional information.
Half-Life 2: Episode One was released on June 1st, 2006, so far only for the PCs. Valve has announced though that it will be made available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox360 together with Half-Life 2: Episode Two. The Xbox360 version will receive certain technological upgrades, so should PC one. Case is not certain for PS3 though, as it's being developped by other studio from EA's side which is more experienced in production for this console.
Half-Life 2: Episode One also includes free remake of Half-Life: Deathmatch called Half-Life: Deathmatch Source based on Source Engine.
There is one official trailer for Half-Life 2: Episode One and four launch teasers all available on Steam.
As stated by some VAVLe's representatives, episodes will conclude Half-Life 2 plot but will not put an end to Gordon Freeman's adventure. So in advance of any questions, this is not the conclusion of entire saga.
Half-Life 2: Episode One is based on heavily upgraded Valve's Source Engine, aside from technological fixes and polishes it introduces compleatly implemented HDR technology, new lighting system, even more advanced face animations and set of special combat animations for Alyx character.
Half-Life 2: Episode One price is $19.95 for both retail and Steam versions.
