Default "Could not connect to game server. Reason: Could not complete connection attempt."

Hello!!!
We have 48 computers and HL1.104+CS1.0
using riva tnt2 based cards also used
Open GL as graphic driver. This message("Could not connect to game server. Reason: Could not complete connection attempt.") appears very often
whatever gamers try to connect to CS server trough "LAN game". I notice that
changing graph.resolution sometimes helps, but this is not a solution!
Please help me. (drop me a message to
robo_brain@mail.ru)

What computer is running as the server? And how fast is the network? sometime even LAN's can get jammed up....

do you have a main server running the LAN and all the computers are routed through that... or are you using hubs... and routing all the computers through the hubs?

Hi Raptor...how you doing?
I suppose it's a stupid suggestion, but check for viruses...and failing that check your program files directory for bogus folders containing dll's...
I recently had to delete 3 folders ,all that had scandanavian names and were full of dll's...
I must have been 'given' them when playing cs
on one of the NL servers I use...

Hmmm... We have only 192.168.111.XXX IP addresses and main switch (x 16).
To this switch connected two HUBx16,one switch x 8 and some computers directly connected to this switch.
I do not have main server running something like NT domain, but my Linux server have shared directories and CS server.

BTW. Even gamers try to connect to other
servers (created other gamers on any computer) this error appears too...

I don't know what the ports for all the proxy stuff is... so my information is exausted.... you might have to set the firewalls IDP packet thingys to freely send and recieve through those... I have no idea what they are... but that's the only other thing I can think of.... port numbers... I don't know what the port numbers are... I think it's link 27015... you open that up... and then it should work... but if it doesn't then sue me.... because I don't remember numbers well.... You DO have firewalls set up on all the computer right? or just some of them... because if it's just some of them and they're the only ones connecting then your firewall is not letting the computer send or recieve throught the IDP port thingy... so someone with some REAL information come in here and help this guy with this one...

HELLO!!!
I think I resolved this problem...
Computers with 64Mb memory more often
cannot complete connection, but computers with 128Mb almost connect without such
problem. On the server I noticed that
when gamer can't connect, server response
"Time Out" and then I find server variable
sv_challengetime = 15 by default.
I setled sv_challengetime = 1000 and this problem don't appear again, but yet
Thanks for responsing.
