How do I set up a multi game. I am on LAN line.

I am a newbi, and I was trying to set up a multiplayer game. I am not sure how to do this. Please help. I don't know any servers that I could play on.

Are you trying to play a internet game?
Or a LAN game?

Neo January 19th, 2000 04:59 PM

What is the differens?

Neo January 19th, 2000 05:06 PM

I understand. An Internet game. I have T1 connection. But when I press Internet games no servers show up. PLease help. Thanks for responding

When you go to the internet games menu, you have to press the UPDATE button on the left side. The software doesn't know any of the servers because it's probably never been told to look for them.
The UPDATE will go out to the WON servers and authentificate you, and if you pass, then it'll download a list of all the servers and start grabbing their serverinfo one by one. There's anywhere from 1500 to 3000 servers on at one time, so be prepared for a little wait. If you want to, you can FILTER the servers that fit your criteria, but I don't like to do that.

Still does not work. I press UPDATE and nothing happens. What else can I do?

I always have to press "Update" first.. then "Refresh" then I get about 200-300 servers up. If you still can't see any servers, press "Filter" and make sure no issues are crossed out.
This is all I can do, but you might consider to write a mail to Sierra, they respond quite fast!

How do I contact them?

Are you behind a firewall or a proxy? Most people don't have T1s going to their houses and most business that are big enough to have a T1 are behind a firewall or use a proxy. This may be blocking your game from the internet.

I am behind a proxy. What can I do?

Gecko January 20th, 2000 05:12 PM

You're basically screwed because you do not have an direct internet IP address. Your browser will access the net through the proxy but your game won't. You could setup a LAN game on the server and play that way.

Well that sucks. How do I set up a LAN game? Does it mean that I will be the host, and people have to join me?

Yes, just set up it in the LAN section and then other people can see it and join up. You can play up to 5 people using one CD key.

Only the poeple on your LAN system will be able to join your LAN game, it will not go out over the internet. http://boards.ioerror.com/frown.gif
