Problem with connecting to a CS server. HELP!!!

When i go into Halflife and try to start an Internet game it goes through the process (Connecting to xxx.xx.xxx.xxx. Connection accepted by xxx.xx.xxx.xxx. Trying 2 authenticate with won, won authentication sussecfull e.t.c) and when it comes to the end (it's said connected 2 server all the way through) it then says Dissconected and kicks me vack into the CS menu with the error "could not connect to server", or something like that. :-(
PLEASE HELP and keep replies coming in.

Try to use a different server pinging program (or if you are using the built-in one, then use a program).

If you use GameSpy and Half-Life doesn't connect, you will still be in the console. So if you have the same problem as Elite, typing in "retry" may work.

and a errr exil; its goes back to the internet servers screen so oyu cant type retry, and even if you do that it still ahs to reconect to the server, so
