Big Problem!!!! Single player locks-up I don't know what is going on. I bought the first Half-Life.....the one without team fortress add-on.....i downloaded the update later when i installed. Anyways, i have a PIII 450 with 64RAM and Aureal Vortex2 super quad sound card and Diamond StealthIII s540 video card and all the new DirectX and its setup properly and also running in Win 98. I wouldn't say that configuaration is the problem at all. The problem is it locks up when i start a single player game. I go to newgame and then click on easy and then it shows the hour-glass like its starting and then it stays like that for a while. I press CTRL+ALT+DEL and then i see on that little list that it states Half-Life (Not Responding). I don't know why this is happening. I tried the Hazard course but same happens when its suppose to start it. I tried changing every setting with sound graphics and so but nothing works. I asked for help from Sierra websire but the assholes haven't replyed in over 2 weeks and return policy is a couple of weeks. I tried their online help, wich for a lock-up suggested i add some extra parameters in shortcut properties ( -noip 1)...something like that. And it didn't help. I really don't know what to do......so please help me if you can.....and ask for additional info if you need to help me. Anything will be appreciated.....even if its just a small reply. Thank you in advance!!! ------------------ |
If you have a cable modem (as I do...) you have to disable DNS in network neighborhood-properties-TCP/IP. I know, I know it doesn't make any sense but it worked for me. I hear that valve is working on a patch 4 it. dMo |
You the man this thing finally works But now the internet doesn't. Because i also have cable, and now that DNS is turned off the internet isn't working.....makes sense since DNS is your ID out on the net......mine isn't working without the DNS being set-up so how did you deal with this by the way are you with @Home Rogers cable? I am bye thanks again deMo ------------------ |
