| Next time you draw a hand hold it directly under a light, a lamp preferably. Then draw the shadows, lights and darks and try to learn the hand from that drawing, be as picky as all hell and Im sure that you will do even better than you did this time. Preferably to learn the hand I would hold it right under a light or use a bright flash and take a picture of it, draw from the picture, you could get a lot of detail into your work that way. I see good work but I know you can do better, I can tell already you got talent. Your perspective drawing is good however there are a few things I would like to teach you if you dont mind. It will be hard over the internet but I would like to try if you dont mind. This work is fine but with your heart and intelligence to listen to others I know you can do better. With your next hand drawing measure some how the distances from one point on the drawing with another . Notice where the palm meets the hand , you are a little bit off. The slope from the thumb , down to the arm is too short and the angle is not wide enough my friend. I notice these things not because I am a good artist but because I take the extra time to learn to use methods, of measuring and observation, after you walk on that ice, meaning after you observe , measure for so long it will come naturally and you can trust your eye more but you are not yet ready to trust your eye fully. I would take the picture under the lamb and find a method to measure things out. If you do the lamb you do not need a flash or camera, but a camera photo would be easy to work with, measure and observe. You are a good artist .Carefully . Also my friend in that position, if I think it is the one I think it is the hand has a dip in . Do you know how you do dips in? Contrast. Lights and darks in a drawing. Practice drawings with deep contrast, such as anything with many folds, and I quarantee you that you will feel happy, learn something and impress me a little more than now. Meaning shadows, glares, You are shading for texture but, you also missed alot of raises, and lowers in the hand. Every object in the world has a gradient scale ![]() Hold your hand under that lamp again for me , PLEASE now look at this scale and look at your hand I am sure that you see a few spots like this. Dark spots that get lighter as you move your eye away from that spot, or darker. You got to flow with your gradiance. Once studying this and learning it, distance and shadows ,and even coloring, painting will be easier for you I promise you that. Once learning this you will have fewer and fewer flat drawings, not to say they are stale now but ya know what I mean. Now notice the edges of your shapes, they are a little off on the hand. Move your thumb back into position, if I had the right position, if I do, then the shape inbetween your thumb and your hand should look a bit more jagged , like a sharks fin. Notice the shape of your fingers they look like they were shaved off at the ends, they are not rounded. MAke the edges , outlines of your shapes define your shapes correctly. If you do not have the right shapes on the outside of a figure then you do not have the right shapes at all. Second of importance to this is gradiance, then detail, texture is the small petty work. Take from that and learn from it and I assure you that your next drawing will impress yourself. As for perspective, you are wise to try to learn it, i will advise you later if you wish but I am going to need some time, Your 2 drawings have similarities, call me crazy call me smart but I say you got what it takes . However you are going to need to work at it. Im proud of you for trying perspective but we need to talk about that later, that is if you want my advice on it, the rest of this advice you should take because I know you can make the best of it....if I made sense giving it. Gradiant of course changes with light source but once praticing it on hands, people, you begin to learn shape, roundness, life like drawings I suggest maybe even drawing from black and white photos and you will then do impressive things. Good luck. ![]() Call me crazy but I think this would be a good photo for you to try to draw. Push hard and learn something even if you fail a work of art that is what I also done and still do...notice how many times I have revisted my computer art drawing, that is because I have not yet won the respect and passion, warmness in my heart that I want to. Shade in layers to get real dark points, shade and erase to get lighter points when only using a pencil. THE ERASER IS A TOOL OF SAINTS MY FRIEND HAHAAHAH ! It will serve you as it would a god. Remember that. Shading in layers in pencil wont do alot but it will do enough to get you ready for the next steps. Smudge for a grey sky, shade long and hard for a dark ground, then gradiance with your eraser , go back to the sky shade the dark spots, Use that eraser, and puts tons of led or graphite , or whatever you are using on there, use the eraser.

| I take it that you do not like it. Im off to sleep soon. I do not think that was very mature ....anyways but who am I judge someone I have so little in common with, for starters I have respect for others, and myself and do not use such degrading words when it is completely un-necessary. Honestly even if you did not like it, it is pretty obvious that it is a dog unless you know very few dogs, I do have a mutt after all.
