That's what I see as a much more pertinant and much more important question. Can a fully installable version of WildWest be made? If we want WildWest to REALLY take off it needs to divorce itself from something considered to be honest Old Hat. The big draw about ET in my mind is it does not rely on a retail package that has fallen off the end of many retail store's software line ups. However that is a Very Big Order for Hewster to fill. |
Hi. Can someone tell me, why i get a full gray screen (and no more) when i try to run WW after installing the latest patch1 to XP prof?. Normal wolfenstein works fine. WW dk |

Have I not seen you playing the beta ? I need more info to help you, what files did you install prior to this problem? Hewster |
Well i have now tried to install XP-servicepack_1 1 time with the current version 1.12/1.14 (3 weeks ago) and 1 time with the version before (long time ago). Both times i had to reinstall XP . As you know I do play the beta  but i have not tried to install the servicepack_1 with the 1.4beta_1. I will try this now. Lets see what happend :uhoh: :uhoh: :uhoh:. WW dk |
I just installed XP servicepack 1 (express) and the problem is as i described in the previous post. But the lightgray full-screen appears in both wolfenstein and ww when i try to run it . I can hear "fragments" of the wolfenstein and ww intromusic when the lightgray screen appear but no more happens. I installed DirectX_9.0a and it didn't help . No errors in the startup of Wolfenstein/ww. What is wrong with that damm servicepack-update ? ww dk |
Odd prblem WW, I don't use XP, but it might be the in-built firewall ? Have you tried uninstalling RtCW & WW then re-installing ? Maybe you need to update your graphix drivers ? Hewster |
You mean you don't all get that????? I thought it was just part of WildWest! Of course I've only ever played WW with the service pack installed. I've always gotten it. I've had a hunch that it is doing some sort of search for a master server. If you carefully watch your network traffic easy to do on my router. Pure guess work makes me think it is looking for a direct connect (it pauses but there's no network traffic for the first pause) then it looks for a local server as there is a broadcast message to the local area network (Traffic shows on my other router ports) and then it looks for an Internet server a connection to the internet (Traffic on the internet port of my router). But as I said that's just a guess based upon blinking lights. I've just learned to deal with it. During the 5 days I was without an Internet connection (BTW the problem was exactly what I said it was - the repair crew down the street had spliced a new cable incorrectly. It just took a TimeWarner 5 minutes in my house after a 5 day delay for them to realize it and call the repair crew. They fixed it down the street 3 hours later... (grumble grumble grumble)) Anyway, during the 5 days I was without Internet (grumble) that gray screen was all I got. So, Hewster I expect that if you can get the same behavior if you disconnect you broadband or set you system to look for a non-existant proxy server. |
jubii, now it work after installation of new drivers. I also do it last time without succes but now it works. thanks ww dk |
WWDK: See My screen stays gray for maybe 5-10 seconds and then clears and goes to the menu. I don't hear any sound during that time. Do you still get that? Hewster: I like the hissing when you hold a fuse bomb especialy how it changes tone at the final hiss. It's odd that it starts before you actually light the bomb though... In WW you cannot change the delay on dynamite bundles correct? If you hold the button while dropping the dynamite bundles, it it still clicks, can you eliminate that sound since it is not doing anything? Can you make it so you can cut the fuse on the dynamite sticks? It doesn't make sense that the fuse bombs can be held but fused sticks cannot. |
yep but my screen only stay gray for 3 seconds (something to do with the cpu you have). ww dk |
