Text chats from spectator mode

It seems that sending text chat message from spectator mode only works if you have joined the cowboys or bandits first, then go back into spectator mode. If you join a game for the first time, and stay in spec mode, it does not seem like players are getting my messages.

Is this something that it has done all along, and I am just now noticing it?

You are right Ig, in the spectator mode, no one but spectator can see text chat. I had noticed it a few weeks ago and Hewster had confirmed it to me. But I didn't know if a team were joined and that one turned over afterwards in this mode that this made it possible to be able to discuss as spectator. it's weird!

Is this still works after a long playing or only if you do it immediately?

Also your VSay's are only heard by you!

So you cannot jump into a server and send out invitations and then expect people to respond. You MUST join a team.

So if I am in spec mode, and I send a hello vsay, none of the other players hear it??? I swear that it was working, or am I just imagining that people are responding to my hello chats?

Or am I still high from last night and I need to go back to bed for a while??...lol

I know that I hit the tab key a lot, to see who's spectating. If someone new appears there, I usually give a v54. Maybe that's what's happening. :)

actually there are 2 possibities ig

1 its on your server where you may/maynot have more priviledges as admin /rcon

2 this is an anti cheet that we insisted on from beginning testing. nothing worse than having a spectator following you typing out your location. so in test2 it was removed. You'll also note that If I need to have a 'chat' with someone I'll drag them to spec mode so that the rest of the players are not included. Advise I'll give globally, but a chewing out or indepth Q/A I use spec mode. (also note, all text shows up in rcon files just not in everyones screens so keep the language healthy :D )

Just to confirm...

ALL spectator chat is private between spectators, EVEN if they join a team then
go back to spectating.

Vsay commands are heard everyone when issued by anyone :)
