Hi Banaan!
The time-line, updated as of yesterday, is up at
www.The-WildWest.co.uk and I think we are dead on target so far. Go visit the site, it's gooood news! Unless we hit a major snag AND IT IS POSSIBLE, we will proceed as planned.
To be clear, and this is not directed at you Banaan, I'm going to steal a line from Borland International, "We will release only when it is ready. We will not give you something that doesn't work. It doesn't do you any good and it sure doesn't do us any good." That being said, the four of us on the WildWest staff just tested what should be the RC3 release. All was going well when I had to go back to work 40 minutes late from lunch (I'll stay late this evening) and I haven't gotten any emails yet with problems. So, I'm guessing that is a good thing and they are just being thorough. (I hope!)
The next step is to release to our list of 60 beta testers and have a short, intense free for all test period. (TESTERS PLEASE WATCH YOUR EMAILS CLOSELY OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS.) We could skip this step but that would be really unwise and could do us more harm than good. Some things you just can't rush. Not with a globe spanning release. If we were just shipping 50 peices of software out to people we could be a little more lax, but this will be spread across the planet (neat huh?) and uploaded to many distribution points around the world in order to handle the download volume. Fixing a mistake then is REALLY hard.
Soooooo, in short, we are in the today/tomorrow part of the time line and proceeding as planned. Go check it out!
