Cheaters never win...nor do noncheaters

:furious:

I understand that something needs to be done about cheaters...I totally agree that something should be done to those cheating. but there are a few of us that have been called cheater by AAO and we don't cheat. I don't have a clue what they use or how they determine you are a cheater...but according to the email it's fool-proof. Also according to the email there is nothing you can do...nothing...aao tech support won't listen...if you email banned@americasarmy.com they won't listen...So I just thought I would get my rant out here. I don't understand how a game that models itself after the US Army would call someone a cheater and then not give them proof of this. Even in the US Army you are innocent until proven guilty and you are at least given a chance to defend yourself...there is no defence against this. You get the email...that's it...end of story. I am wondering if this has happened to anyone else...I can tell you...that I am 110% certain that I didn't cheat...I'll be more than glad to turn over my AAO files for their review if need by...I mean...what did I do to be determined a cheater...cause I sniped someone that thought they couldn't be seen? Cause I made a lucky 203 shot? I am supposed to fear when I have a drop of good luck on a round and shoot 6..7...8 people... no no wait...I know...I'm supposed to fear every lag in the game...where does this end...yes something needs to be done about the cheaters...but come on. Is AAO willing to lose players due to another player reporting to an admin that someone is a cheater and lableing them as such...What's your thoughts...Do you agree with the present system or not? Have you been accused of cheating and not have a cheat on your computer?

AA is a great game and I would hate to stop playing...but right now this new cheaters system is not working in my opinion...and whoever turned me in as a cheat...:moon:...they are more than likely a sore sport that couldn't stand to be shot...

I completely agree with you. I don't know if the admins sent out mass emails to every player with that email, but I got one today. I don't cheat. Last night I was accused of cheating because I had 10+ kills on Mnt. Mckenna. My honor WAS at 31(and that's since 5.0 came out, which I think is pretty average. 31 honor in how many weeks?? And that was starting out at 10 honor. Now my honor has been reset to 5 and they are giving me a "second chance". I have to go back through retraining, etc.. Looks to me like I never got a first chance. They need to keep an eye on people with honor in the 70s if you ask me. But it doesn't feel like I have a voice when it comes to dealing with the admins.
Until I get some answers, I won't be playing anymore. It's sad to quit beacuse I love the game, but I hate being accused of something I didn't do.

i like to mess with files but i have found the UT engine impossible to mess with unlike... shall we say rainbow six?? lol. but the only way ive found that i think you could call cheating would be to edit your personal file with your own stats in it (which i think could give you access to all the maps) if your a newbie but i did not find that till i finished the game so it was of no use to me. and im guessing they have fixed it so you cant do that now? ah.. i dont want any e-mails telling me that i cant play anymore cause ive worked hard to get this far and get my ranger tab! lol i dont cheat and dont like it! peroid cant wait till 1.6!!!!!:cya: keep up the great work devs:rock:

Here is an idea that me and one of my clan mates come up with...This will stop the need for an admin to admin to assume that a player is cheating. Even with the abuse that votekick gets I think they should have a cheatkick...in order to get cheatkicked 90% of a room must agree. If a room does agree...you lose one honor point per cheatkick...and instead of it being good for just one round...it's good for the remainder of the 7 rounds when scores reset. If there is anyone cheating in a room...then other players are the ones to know...we watch others play. You can tell when someone is cheating and when someone is good. After 5 cheatkicks that's when honor and training get reset...I think this is more fair than the way it is now...at least this way you know that someone was watching...and you also get a chance to defend yourself. It's gotten to the point that when a good player gets a run of good luck, then they are automatically a cheater...this needs to stop. The email you get saying you are a cheater presently is vague at best...basically it says you cheated...end of story. No where does it say where you cheated....when you cheated...or how...that is if you did cheat...anyways....just a thought on this subject to add...just so people that haven't been accused yet...it is really frustrating to know that you work so hard to get good honor...in my case...32 honor...then you get beat back down to the bottom...treated like scum...I have been a faithful player since AAO 1.1 now I am like Pukarella...I'm not sure I am going to play again or not...The only thing holding me on to playing...my teammates that depend on me to play for my clan.

Also just so everyone knows...I talked to tech support and there maybe a possibility that their system for finding cheaters maybe detecting a corrupt install...they are looking into this now. Tech support has heard all of this as well...people saying they didn't cheat, but still getting the dreaded email. The email they give you on the AAO site...banned@americasarmy.com has not responded to my emails yet. I sent them not only a diplomatic plea that I didn't cheat, but also a word for word account of what was said by tech support and the facts that I got 2...yes 2 of these emails...one for each name that I had on AAO. Both these emails came within a week of each other...and again...I didn't cheat....110% certain of that fact. Something fishy??? You tell me!!!

I agree that the devs are working hard on this game...they just need to listen to the players before branding someone a cheater...some people take offense to that.

I also agree with this idea. I currently have 30 honor..not much these days...since i have been playing since 1.4 . I would like to see something done. My trademark is to always shoot down a running man when i am sniper on the defense side for mountain pass. I get a few more and BOOM! Labeled a cheater and kicked out? FOR WHAT? because they didnt get a chance to even shoot a bullet? No, because they are just jeoulous and have never seen someone with such skill. I think todays society should appreciate the games we have and the people that play on them. I could agree that a m16 that fires only 8 bullets and hit 8 guys is a cheater, but come on. Do you see where I'm coming from? We need to have someone watching and scanning for cheaters at all times. Hopefully the devs will figure this out.

Exactly my point too...I just happen to shoot a someone on assault on Mountain Pass in the manner you described...cheater?? No...good sniper...no...Lucky...YES...LOL...seriously...it is very very possible to hit a running man...and with sniper it is possible to hit 5 for 5...but to be labled cheater...NO...

Pukarella February 10th, 2003 03:36 PM

Yeah, I had 10+ kills in 5 rounds on Mnt Mckenna. It's just a simple/small map. Usually on any map, I never get more than 10 kills unless I have a lucky nade to primary or out of the main entrance before assault comes busting in.
I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that this happened; It's government related, I'm bound to get screwed.

I've been accussed in pipeline for cheating because I once got 28 kills in assault with saw. I've seen other players done it, but that time I was in the zone man. I just aimed high near the head and let the saw do the rest, so each round I got about 6 or 7 or 8 kills and they thought I had an aimbot, but I swear, I don't know anything about aimbots except that they help you aim. Since that moment I stopped using saw most of the times, because it is easier to kill with it than with m16 or 203. I like your idea of letting the players decide wether a person is cheating or not. But I think that even if someone is not using a cheat, he could be labeled as a cheater only because he got more kills than the rest. And everyone trust me, there will be days in which you just can't stop killing in the game.

Edited: "By the way, I called that... LUCK"

Bondfreak0079 February 10th, 2003 06:28 PM

I've been accused of cheating too, but thank god that person that said I was a cheater was jumped on by every1 else in the server. :) Anyways it was on pipeline and I was assault. I was crouched and some defense guy comes up and tries to shoot me. I shoot him and he claims he put 9 rounds in my head. WELL U KNOW WHAT? I SHOT A GUY POINT BLANK 6 TIMES AND HE DIDN'T DIE! I didn't complain because I know just how inaccurate the weapons are. And 3 round burst. It's horrible. BTW I killed the guy who claimed I was a cheater. My team was speccing me and saw what happened. It was probably from the lag.

My personal opinion on this is just like votekicking these days...it's getting to the point that it's becoming something that is occuring WAY too often. There are people on here that have lost sight that this is just a game. There are some sore sports out there that cry "cheat" when a noob shoots a seasoned player or someone gets a lucky pop shot through the smoke. This has got to end somewhere. It really does. I think between the votekicking and this cheating issue is going to ruin a really great game. It's sad that we must all play a game where we have to worry about getting banned because the person we shot didn't like it and called us a cheat or some program that has a bug in is going to give a false return on currupt file and label us a cheat. Something must be done...before we are all called cheats and end up banned from this game.

I have seen that this subject has attracted alot of readers, but very few posts. If you take the time to read this subject, then please leave your opinion. I will be sending an email to the folks at Americas Army a link to hear for them to read as well...Let us let them know what we think of this...it's got to start somewhere and it might as well start here...

Thanks to those who have posted their thoughts on this...it seems that we're more worried about being labeled a cheater than we are actually catching the cheats. We all know of a few players that have cheated...but like I said in a previous post...we, as players, should be able to take care of that in the room we are playing...I mean come on...it's obvious when they're cheating. We can't all be cheaters....
