Compliling Level

Please help "the level editor is simple to use" BUT why the **** did they make you go through all that ruoble of going into DOS extracting .ras files and re-wrtitting the .txt SURELY and i mean surely someone can write a better script whic is either DOS based or even an Application .......

If anyone has ever played NHL 2001 it also uses .ras or simular files and they have a specail program which can extract and import files which is 100x easier than the 6 yr old DOS way .....

Most level editors do it for you....?

Anyway can anyone either give me a link to a VERY good instructions to compiling a level or can they please tell me .....

Thanks in advance.
