Do you guys realize that the level editing is just DIFFERENT? It is DIFFERENT in good ways. If any of you fat nerds would get your tubby self's off of your hating high-horse, you would probably notice how advanced this editor can be. After spending some time with it, you can expand beyond any level editing program that has come to anyone's hard drive. Yes, maybe Remedy made some false claims about how SIMPLE it would be... But maybe they will come out with some add-ons.
Now I know what you are thinking, "Well I should be able to make my house out of the box!" (trust me, I wanted to do that too.) But I'm sure if the modeling community chills out for just a few weeks, we might get some positive response from Remedy or 3d Realms.
Given the tutorials on the web, we are stuck laming it out with two whole rooms and a fricken hallway (general public level editors.) But the good thing is, that remedy realizes this. The only reason that we cannot get a grasp on this is because we are so used to editors with 2d and such. But I have never seen an editor where it is so easy to script your own actions.
Think of this editor being a movie set. The prime function for this editor besides the current technology is to make the level play like a movie. With all the keyframe and target options, we have plenty to play with.
Some people say "After fooling around with Max Ed for 3 days, I've found it to become quite simple." Yes, that is true, if a level to you is a big room, or *gasp* two rooms connected by a hallway.
Well enough ripping on the editor, there are many good points.
The ease of use is one. This editor is very easy to use, once you know how to operate it. Think about all the great hotkeys that were set up for it and the 3d navigation. I find it quite easy to apply textures and to create objects. I don't know any other editor that could do things this easy. Cutting and pasting objects is a breeze too. No undo? Why do you need undo when you can just UNDO-it your self! Just go to the top left hand corner and click delete, move, etc.

I don't see why so many people need to sit at home and be bitter about things, when they can be thankful to a team of people that brought us a great game with a very POWERFUL editing tool. This game just marks when technology took another step. it may take you guys just a little bit longer to adjust. Now I am not saying that it is completely easy to use it, but what I am saying is that once you have learned how to use it, you will kick yourself and realize that it just takes time.

I was angry at Remedy for saying that it was EASY to use, but I realized that anger was useless. There is a bright world outside and time is always moving. I go out and have fun with my friends. I let time pass me by until a few months have gone by. And by that time I realize that many tutorials have been written, and the editor is simple to use. You people who do have a life (I am sorry to the nerds that are rejected by society, find some friends please) need to go out and stop b*tching and moaning about a lost cause. Its a game for god's sake. Maybe you didn't read that correctly. Yes a GAME. A computer GAME. Not life. So I advise all you naysayers out there to cool off and realize that making a computer game is hard work. Give these guys a break. The only person I permit to whine is somebody who has spent 3 plus years on a computer game and sold as many copies as Max Payne. Anybody else needs to shut their mouth because you dont have anything else to do.
I realize that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but when you are walking down the street with your four year old daughter, do you want someone to say: "Hey! You! You got a pretty ugly daughter! Where'd she come from? Ugly-town?" Or say that you have a group of friends that formed a band and you are playing your first show for free and you get bottles thrown at you. Doesn't feel very good, does it? So all I am basically saying is calm down. Go live life for a while and come back to this later. It's a game. Why waste your days complaining.

Every single day I beat my record for consecutive days that I have been alive. I am not going to waste one of those days without living life to the fullest.

Peace.
