What Mods do You want for Max?
 
So, a lot of you bought the game and ran the whole way and are now talking about the shortness of the game, well what mods do you want? Let's throw some ideas around?

More matrix style effects http://www.veforums.com/smile.gif Shooting some one and then following the bullet ala matrix till it hits the person, and then swings camera around person, while you see the other effects in the game continue. Just like the swirl is now, but with more continues action and bullet time following.

Maybe an option to enable those swirls around bodies and bullets to get nice demo stuff..

My list of suggestions for some changes...

(0)Bullet/Dudge/Dive thingy does not stop bullet time

(0)Reloading of weapon does not stop bullet time

(0)A version of the side jump/roll when you go forwards, rathet then that pathetic forward jump

(0)Longer coat on Payne like Neo's from The Matrix would be cool

(0)There is a few more but I cant think of any others just now...

PS Anyone know a GOOD tutorial that would be of some help for me? I am great with WorldCraft and UnrealEd but am totally freaked ou tby the Max Payne editors http://www.veforums.com/frown.gif

Bah, Matrix is an american HKBO wannabe. Let's have some real action. How about some maps based on good movies like Hard Boiled, The Killer and the A Better Tomorrow movies. With the weapons to match of course.

Well, I'm working up a TC design right now. I don't have the site done yet, so I won't get into too many details, but one thing it will include is a full four-direction crouch/jump dodge.

To explain. Right now, crouch is bloody useless; it steadies your aim and that's it. You can't even move in a crouch, which makes a lot of cover bloody useless as well.

Crouch+left will do the standard bullet-time dodge left. Same with crouch+back, crouch+right, crouch+forward. Now, the jump+ will do other bullet-things - namely, left and right as no-hand cartwheels, back as a no-hand backflip (Tekken, anyone?), and forward to be announced. I've been trying to come up with something that won't make you look silly, suggestions welcome.

I'm also basically going to implement Oni-esque martial arts, which is a whole new ballgame...

(the catch to all this is that I can design, I can make pretty graphics, and I can even texture when I put my head to it, but I'm useless in all other aspects of mods... sucks to be me.)

I dont think people want mods, we just want more maps.

How about a completly destructable map, a supermarket. the shelves fall over, everything catches fire, bottles smash.

how bout a map with a bunch of different ways to do it.... like deus ex but with more action http://www.veforums.com/smile.gif make a map with no objective just plop the character down and have em do what they want..... no locked doors damnit!!! hehehe you could finish it by leaving the place or by blowing it up :-D hehe or just hide in de kitchen for a few years

Actually, I'm dying for some house/urban maps...

Just imagine walking down a suburb street, and walk into a house to find some guys in a kitchen sitting down having a conversation, and you leap sideways and blast everything on the kitchen counter...

Anyone for SyphonFilter? Might be a nice TC-topic. As for maps: I can totally understand people criticizing the lack of MP. I personally think MPis fun, but nevertheless I am a total SINGLEPLAYER freak. When a little time has passed and people like us get comfortable with hte editors we can all help each other out. The games too short? We'll just make it longer for us. We can do what we want. "Single map happenstances" like max at a gas station/quickiemart robbery
or stuff like that. It doesn't always have to be a complete map pack, addon, mod or TC to keep a game alive and kicking.

Remember good old Duke3d maps? Many good ideas for single levels which KICKED ass, even though there (obviously) was no great plot to unwrap. I am looking forward to sharing mine and playing yours (i'm not talking about playing doctor games here!!)

Just a little comment, but I THINK that you can prevent shootdodging from turning off bullet time by turning off bullet time assist in the options menu.

I believe that there'll be tons of maps out not too far into the future...

Like you said, look at Duke3D... Heck, we all had to use Build back then, and that was a piece of crap, but there's literally THOUSANDS of maps and addons out for that game now!!!

I'm sure Payne will evolve into something bigger than what we can even imagine.

i have to admit that i preffer single player parts of the games to muliplayer parts.... you have to think more and you can bend reality for just a few moments... rarely online can you get a bunch of people to role play in the middle of a deathmatch and by role play i mean act out your character.... not run around and build up stats hehehe this happend once in a game of rune and it was a blast( i was the wise warrior at the top of the mountain that would read passaged of tao te ching hehehe anywho single player can be more detailed and immersive than muliplayer if ya want an immersive multiplayer game go out and play anarchy online(which kicks ass might i add) as for mod why don't one of you go and make a web page so we can organize the mod makers and get something out.... i am guessing we shall have a few levels out at the end of this week or sooner http://www.veforums.com/smile.gif i am suprised how far people have gotten by themselves so early. yes i want a non linear level!

Ok for any one doing a TC I have to plead with you,please dont forget, what was
for me, the best part of Max..... The mood.

Matrix mods with wall running and 1 handed cartwheels are OK, but what I loved
was the "Last Man Standing" style Narrative, the mind warping dream/trip levels, the
very cool comic book bits. the whole game had a dark brooding feel to it and i loved
it for that.

Even the mighty Deus Ex didn't have this kind of mood to it, yeh it had a great story,
and gameplay but it didn't drag me in the way Max did.

that sounds ****ing awesome! i think someone should throw more special moves in too, like special ways of shooting, for example:
1)use dual guns to shoot to both your left and right, either with arms crossed or arms straight out.
2)shoot behind your back or over your shoulder.
3)a quick roll (like in tomb raider) so you can turn 180 easier.
4)a running baseball slide that lets you slide across the floor further and stay on your side longer for better/cooler shots.
5)shootdodge while throwing grenades or cocktails.
6)yes, Oni style martial arts moves (combos, throws, etc.) but done with guns still in his hands.
7)a pistol-whip like move.
8)grab on ledges, jump and hang over ledges like in mgs2 so you can drop down on people.
9)a way to stand still during bullet time while bobbing and weaving the bullets in slow motion al la the matrix (with a cool blurring type effect).
10)random animation changes in the way max fires 2 guns at once (instead of holding them straight out maybe cocking them to the sides, holding them at waist level, etc.)

you know, i would love to see a TC that turns the game into a gritty, clint eastwood style western. bullet time duals at high noon and shootdodging during bar fights would be awesome.

I would like to see a Mod that implemts Multi Player Functionality into Max Payne. U could code severall Modes: Deathmatch, Gang War and a lot more. It would be very cool to play this great game online!

all i want is a mod that recreates the matrix lobby gun battle, they have a version (not playable) of it in 3dmark 2001. BUt i want the real thing.

1) a hospital shoot-out level like in Hard Boiled.

2) a level where you have the last remaining canister of V, and every doped up, heavily armed v-head in the city is gunning for you for it.

3) a supermarket shoot-out level

4) a TC using The Crow storyline

I think there should be a way to slide and stay down when u bullet time backwards dive (like AHL) and get up when you push a key or somethin...cuz i wished so many times i could bullet time down those stairs and be ready to shoot with my berettas (ilke trinity http://www.veforums.com/smile.gif

A TC cross between CS and Swat3. Your teammates would be AI. Most of it would be in suburban neighborhoods (domestic disputes that leads to hostage rescues). You would be able to drive cars (just a swat van and an SUV and a retextured swat van for the terrorists). You could choose between swats and tangos.
