Definatly a Pain of some sorts I would just like to say that the Models, Textures & Skins are GREAT! But.. I can only play for 6 seconds. I think the programmer(s), should be fired immediatly. This is just bad, wait forever for a game to be done by one of the top game companys ever- 3DRealms- then they give the job to a hole in the wall -Remedy- and now 50% of us are screwed. I think Remedy is gonna have alot of money problems after this... since I don't think anyone is really going to buy another game with their name anywhere around it. I just hope this doesn't effect 3DRealms. |

They did a great job? HOW!? I can't play the damn game on my computer, and neither can half the people in this room. Remedy blows harder than a Hurricane. They spent so damn long making this game, and it's buggier than Daiktana and Tribes 2 combined. At least I'm able to run both of them. I'm using what I would consider a pretty Generic Computer (built it myself) and I have not 1 game -besides Max Payne- that DOESN'T work. Remedy really screwed this one up. |
well now i see the problem. as you tried to install max payne it noticed daikatana on your hard drive and refused to go anywhere near it. (its too 1337 to be seen with daikatana. they had a nasty argument a while back and....rivalries were made. dont worry theyre in therapy though. im sure that the next patch will resolve their differences) |

I have to agree dude. I think if Remedy wants to stay alive after this, they gotta do some sort of recall. This is really crappy to rip people off for this. Or, maybe they'll just go bankrupt. But me and my friends wasted $150. But, maybe they'll come out with a patch (it'll end up being 40meg with all the problems that are being reported) |
alot of games that are coming out now have lots of bugs.just be patient and wait for a patch or return it and buy something else.thats all i can recommend. |

Then, it comes out buggier than any game I have ever played.. hell, it's buggier than WINDOWS. And, it's shipping dates ended up screwed around. And then after all of that, we can't return it, and our problems are mostly ignored. I emailed tech support twice.. no reply. And I have to listen to little bitches like you try to screw with me? I got ripped, along with 75% of the people who bought it. Usually its "the poor unlucky few who have a problem." With this crap it's "the lucky few who don't have a problem." So, you send me $50 bucks and I'll **** in a box for you, and send you a corny mousepad with it. Until then, don't try to argue with me! P.S. Thanks Amigo, at least you somewhat agree with me. What games are comming out that are as buggy as this? Every damn game I have ever bought in my whole life worked on every one of my computers. (Except for 1, but it was a screwed up CD, I returned it and got a working.) And now, I buy something that is supposed to be revolutionary, and it ends up being revolutionary.. in the sense of its the first damn game to bug out on almost every computer it is put on. |

Hmm, well all of the reviews of the game that have come out so far have over a 90% score so I don't think that 75% of the people that have the game can't run it.Black and White,Tribes 2,Anarchy Online, and WW2 Online.Is that enough examples for you or do i have to look at every single ****ing game that has come out in the last 3 or 4 months? a day ago i would have agreed with the pro remedy group but now THEY BITE! my god damn game locks up every stinking chance it gets! i had some graphical probs then got the patch did nothing then got a updated driver like they dtold me and it made it worse!!!!!! I was with the pro group before i had problems maybe this is tellin you something. p.s. if you guys dont agree on something do you always have to undermine eachother? sheesh just say you dont agree not swear youl take revenge on there family lol |
Lol hazard. It's just that so many people are having problems and can't play. And then the people who can, treat those people like they are the only one and it's their fault.. hen in all actuality it is Remedy's fault. I have played almost every game out there, and never have I had a problem of this extent. I don't think it is the whole Remedy team's fault, the modelers and texturist/skinners, did excellent jobs. But the programmers must have skipped a huge DEBUGGING PROCESS. Maybe they were too busy eating Cheetos, I don't know, but it isn't our fault. |
i only saw one or two complaints about not being to run the game and a few having problems with the editor on this page.there may have been problems before the patch but now there much less common.if your not patient enough to wait for another patch then i guess you'll just have to **** yourself because theres nothing you can do.why dont the few of you complaining do us a favor and shut the hell up because you won't get the game running by bitching and complaining. |

I think it is the programmer's fault. If I were Remedy, I would be working 24/7 to get a patch out before they end up with 4 million copys of Max Payne sitting in their office. With no place to go. And Matt, if you don't complain they might not take the problem seriously. I emailed them about all 3 problems (on each computer) and never got anything back + the patch isn't fixing too many of the problems. I still see messages with "I installed the patch and it didn't help" and the such. I think if you just shut up and played your evendentually working copy of Max Payne, you would be doing a favor for those of us who want ours to run... NOW. I am getting mad too, I mean I really was fooled by the hype, but I think the hype was a con to get us to by a Mousepad and a cardboard box with a plastic donut for $49.99 + tax. |

Jesus Christ, it almost makes me wish I had voted for Al Gore. Leiberman would be in office, this game would have been banned, and I wouldn't have to listen to a bunch of whiny b!tches. I, as I'm sure the rest of the people who are playing AND enjoying this game, would be more than happy to help you guys out who are having problems running the game. There is always a root cause to problems running a program. If you would like to work at it with us, I'm all for it. I will help you guys resolve your issues with your PC's so you can at least play the game, and then judge whether it's a piece of crap game or not. I'm sorry you guys have found that Tech Support is lacking, but having worked in tech support, and having worked there when the company decided to put on the box that the program worked with SCSI tape drives, and having worked there when manufacturing printed the CD's with the version of the software that DIDN'T have support for SCSI tape drives, I can tell you that during the first couple of weeks tech support can be overwhelmed with all kinds of problem reports for a program. This is not an excuse for them, they should still acknowledge the problems and address them. But you have a tool here to at least get your issues out to a bunch of people. 10,000 heads are better than one. And right now, with your attitudes, you are really being one giant head, sp to speak. I don't mean to offend, I'm just offering all of you with problems with the game to put down the rocks and the bats, and make an effort to possibly resolve your problems, and move on. Gaming goodness awaits you. |

Ok, lemme bring up some points to you ignorant peices of **** (note: not all who replied, but those who think they are god damn gurus or those who try to insult) Well, #1: I'm running on a P3 850, 512k of pc 133 ram (3 Sticks). ATi Radeon Vivo (Video in/ Video Out for those **** nuts who are too dumb to know what vivo stands for) Windows 2000 Professional. Secondary Video card: Voodoo Bansee (disabled when I open Max Payne). Via chipset (with built on sound) 10/100 Realtek NIC. TDK CD/RW (32 Read, 8 Write, 4 Re-Write) Majik DVD drive, 16x, 60 Gig HD (Ata 100 7200 Rpm on a Promise Ata 100 Card) and a ****ing USR 56k Modem. NONE OF THIS HARDWARE CONFLICTS. And, it sounds pretty far off from a 386, jackass. #2. When you buy something, you expect it to work.. that is if you meet the requirements (whether that be batterys, a ****ing AC outlet, Gasoline, or in my case, a computer that is supposed to be good enough to run the damn thing.) But I bought something, and it doesn't work. Not worth a ****. I spent all night downloading Sp2 (service pack 2) new drivers for Video card, Chipset, and sound card. Changing options in Bios (ones related to video card and ones to insure there was no conflicts at all PERIOD.) Removing my secondary video card. Removing devices that could cause conflicts. Formatting my damn harddrive (Hey, I spent $50 bucks, I wanted to make sure it worked.) and reinstalling (Dual Boot) Win2k and Win98se. Redoing every damn thing in the world. AND THE GAME DID THE SAME THING EVERY DAMN TIME. I even put my computer in front of a wall fan to insure there was no heat problem... none. I have every game working on my computer. If you wish, I will send you a damn list. Now, I see my computer as pretty generic.. I ****ing built it that way. And still, no damn luck. So, basically the programming blew... it is like they beta tested it on every reviewers computer system, so they could actually review the damn thing. #3. I am no longer buying anything that has to do with Remedy.. never.. even if I get Max Payne working again. I know you may not care, but I buy EVERY game I can get my hands on, and so do my friends. We all will no longer buy a Remedy product. #4. Max Payne was originally a 3D Realms project... back when they were working on Prey too. I follow my games. #5. You said something in the lines of most of the people got it to work and are playing it, not spending their time in the forum. Maybe right, Maybe wrong. I could say most of the people bought it, and it didn't work, and they said "**** the forum, I'll just return it." Never posting a damn thing for you dickheads to flame 'em for. #6. I do not want to wait 3 yrs for their patch that will fix my problem (if it ever comes out). If it took them this damn long to code this peice of ****, doing it right will even take longer. The damn thing has compatability issues with every damn peice of Hardware and every damn OS that exists. #7. I have looked through the posts... there is a large # of people who can not get the game running, or at least running good. #8. I knew something wasn't right about the damn thing when you have a progress bar for the menu, and for exiting too. What the **** is it doing that actually requires a progress bar to EXIT? Jerkin off and whistling Yankee Doodle? #9. I have better games to work with than Max Payne. I actually have modeling skills, and hopefully (with enough practice) will end up working for a game company one day. But never a company who does this. And so I think the modelers and texture artists who worked on Max Payne should get the **** out of Remedy. They are too good for Remedy.. or maybe Remedy should replace their WEAK points. And #10.. which happens to be GenD's favorite number, forums are stupid ideas. Every forum is full of know-it-all jackass's looking for attention, and none of them have a problem or suggestion or answer.. just have to blow off other's time. And I know I have stooped to that level, but hey, **** it.. I got ripped.. I have a good reason, but what is your reason? To look cool to a bunch of people on the internet? I only came here to get my message out. I emailed the place on the Readme.. no response. I looked at the patch.. and noticed it solved the STUPIDEST PROBLEM OF ALL (crash on EXIT) hell, I would actually bless compared to LEVEL FREEZE WITHIN 4 SECONDS. So, flame me some more.. it doesn't bother me, it just gives me a chance to have my message right on the top of the message board. |

This is one of the few games games I own that never crashed on me. And I'm running it at 1280 x 1024 x 32 with 2x AA. When I say NEVER i mean it never gave me probs of any kind. All you arrogant mindless kids abuse the **** out of your computers and when something goes wrong its the programmers fault. LOL. My stupid home-built 1GHZ Athlon makes this game rock! The programmers of WINDOWS and the programmers of MAX PAYNE. But at least Max runs. |

I do alot of Video In, so my Radeon suits me fine. + I had a Geforce 2 GTS Pro (Hercules) and I didn't like it's video out and scan lines every so often in Quake3. |

Well, I've read everyone's comments (good and bad). All I can say right now is that I can't get the game to run at all on my computer. Funny it meets the system requirements on the cardboard box.... I understand some of the people are angry now after waiting so long to get their hands on Max Payne for 50 dollars. I went out to buy the game the day it showed up in the store after listening to and watching clips of the hype about this game. Hell, I was excited when I got home and immediately installed the game. Then I launched it only to get this error every time. I spent hours upon hours tweaking the system to no avail. I don't know if we got ripped off or the programmers were pressed into finishing the game and shipping it off quickly after a few years's worth of empty promises. http://www.veforums.com/frown.gif ------------------ Set your Rocket launcher on Frag.
