32 bit slows max payne I have a AMD 1400 with a geforce 2 gts 64 RAM Pro with 256 ram and I put everything on but when I put the textures to 32 bit iy really goes a lot slower. It doesn't become unplayable but still 32 bit isn't that much better so I am sticking with 16 bit thank you very much. Don't tell me my system specs are to low :-) |

Detail Textures also slow down the game quite a bit (basically, they almost double the amount of level geometry as all the polygons that use them are rendered in four passes). Disabling detail textures and changing to 16-bit display mode are probably the most effective ways to increase the game's performance. ------------------ -= Peter Hajba =- -= Max Payne devteam =- - - Appreciation is nothing. I have an AMD 1200MHz, 256MB PC133 ram, 64MB GeForce 3, and I run the game with full options (except AA) at 1600x1200x32bpp and it purrs like a kitten. It averages around 40fps and I never noticed any hiccups or pausing. r33t. Oh, skaven... was that your Corruptor that I heard in Ragnarock? ultra r33t. http://www.veforums.com/smile.gif |
I have a P3 1gig, 256RAM Radeon 64meg DDR VIVO card and the game runs great with everything turned up. I DO notice that some places dont run as well, but its hardly noticable ------------------ what we do in life, echoes in eternity |

thats odd-i have P2 @ 400MHz, 192 SD RAM @ 100MHz, geforce 2 gts 32MB DDR and i ran everything at full except AA, and it ran a ok,i didnt notice ne slow down only just after save pause was a second longer- there wasnt really ne slow down compared to running it in 16bit and on meduim/high. dbappa |
you could add more reserved memory for textures in your GF GTS display setting for Direct X(D3d). that might help?? |

Hmmm...I have a 1.5 GHz, 256 MB RAM and a 64 MB GeForce 3. I got so desperate to fix my problems with slowdown that I tried running in 640 x 480, with 16 bit textures, and all sliders set to minimum. I still get 10 fps when using the ingrams, and an average 30-40 fps during regular gameplay...same as when I run at 1024 x 768 in 32-bit with everything set to maximum. Why do I see no performance increase when running the game at the bare minimum? Btw, Skaven, I love the game; I'm really having a blast. I just feel like I'm having performance problems I shouldn't be experiencing. |
spaz: yup. The only thing I don't have maxed out is AA. But at that resolution, it's hard to tell. btw: it's all about the drivers http://www.veforums.com/wink.gif |
I put everything on full for Max Payne and the game runs fine. I only have a 700 AMD 261 megs of ram, Geforce 256 64mb card. hmmm. It's also running in win2k. |
I run everything maxed but I turn the textures to 16 bit as the graphical difference isn't even noticeable on 32. I average around 50fps although when I'm idling / no enemies it'll be like 80-100, although as with everyone else the Ingrams take a massive hit on the frame rate, especially on the helipad, it's those damn smoke effects, no matter what the system they'll get you everytime. Athlon 1.4ghz Asus V8200 GF3 (12.90 Det) 512mb 2100 DDR Asus A7A266 (Toaster) Soundblaster Live To be honest I don't think the game runs perfectly 100% of the time on any system that is not o/ced. |
