Join Date: June 18th, 2001 Rep Power: 0 | Well, it's not supposed to hold your own creatures. So don't test it on yours.
And while being cast, the first few seconds after they emerge, the walls doesn't do anything. (With the notable exception of fence) and after that, most enemies try to walk around. That's probably why you think it's not working. It should however hold enemies who are in the wall when your casting is finished. You could test it on a map with narrow bridges, if placed right your enemy can't evade it there.
Try casting it into a group of slowmoving ranged creatures. Or use it to block the escape from your rain spell, or the wizard when he is trying to get his blues. Or shield your range from enemy melee. If the enemy is using manahoars in phalanx formation you could cast the wall behind the wizard trapping his 'hoars and if you are lucky he wouldn't even notice, for a while, that is.
