How to beat helicopter liftoff scene?

I shoot the one wire and the thugs rush me, I kill them, run over to the other side of the area, shoot the other wire... I can't seem to figure out what I need to do next? The helicopter lifts off and I get killed.

BTW, I remember when (most of) Remedy was Future Crew... So good to see that you're keeping your amazing talents sharp!

I used the gren launcher for the tower, but will lower caliber work?
