Mid-level flier raid rushing is silly

but I get the impression that a number of folks have gathered some pretty hefty ranking by perpetrating it against newbies, heh heh.

Here is what you can do against that anyway, starting at level 5: First, set a good, tough guardian on your starting manalith. You might use a few ranged units (but only if they are strong enough to defeat a raiding party before they die; flame minions or fallen might do it), or just a single mid-level flier. It seems a bit odd but a guardian gremlin is quite sturdy, and will hold up indefinitely against even an ikarus raid.

Next, build an army as fast as possible, because where early raiders rush, a wizard will follow. You might try level-1 fliers to neutralize the wizard, and a few tough melee to beat up the deadeyes (because these ignorant folks nearly always use deadeyes, even though soul wind is about eight times better). Your goal should be defense--the enemy is risking souls, but if you lose all your mana at the very beginning of the game you are defeated for good. Use guardian and heal liberally.

That's what I'm thinking for now anyway. Of course, the best approach is simply to start at level 1 (though in a level-9 game you'd have guardians available that could just crush any raiding party, so that would work too).

Oi, the cheap stuff you folks will do for a win....

I love magic fights, where there are only a few creatures

*deadeyes, even though soul wind is about eight times better*

Actually, those little beasties are GREAT against wizards.
