I HATE THE DREAMS

i think the dreams in this game are point less i know its part of the story but they still suck they just **** me off like right now because i am on chapter 3 and thats how it starts UHHHHHHHHH
that is just my opinion ;-)

Hyperium July 26th, 2001 06:11 PM

They're supposed to help to develop Max as a character more. I can't say they are particularly enjoyable, but they show you how traumatized Max is, I suppose.

aj blue July 26th, 2001 06:14 PM

Ya, I hated them, too. Way too time consuming and the baby cries... *shiver*

T3CK July 26th, 2001 06:15 PM

it turns the game into a platformer juping from one blood trail to another.

Sloppy_Joe July 26th, 2001 06:15 PM

i think its kinda annoying and weird, but hey, its their game!

Gamer454 July 26th, 2001 07:24 PM

I love this game, Gaming has gone a long way from the old days of yore, games arent just a form of entertainment anymore, they are also art, and this game is definetly a mastepiece so the dreams really add to the story of this beutiful game

Hyperium July 26th, 2001 07:28 PM

yeah, I'm sure certain people would share that point of view. Unfortunately, most of the people that have/will play(ed) can't appreciate such things.

DJ_Spectral July 26th, 2001 07:28 PM

I like the dream sequences. They are kinda creepy. Especially if you have a nice buzz on, and are playing the game in the dark hehe.

RavnuS July 26th, 2001 07:29 PM

the dream bits aren't my favourite but you gotta admit it adds to the atmosphere!

Tiberius Jones July 26th, 2001 08:01 PM

I think the dream sequences are AWESOME! I could do without the stupid platform-style jumping, but the design, and atmosphere is extremely creepy! Gives me the willies, and in a game like this, that's a GOOD thing!

4:20!

There can be only one, and that ain't you!

Pebby July 26th, 2001 08:10 PM

I agree, they take a good deal of time but they really have an atmosphere that I haven't seen in a game since Marathon. If anyone has ever played Marathon, cheers to you, and I hope you still own a Mac http://www.veforums.com/wink.gif

clay July 26th, 2001 09:22 PM

i didn't mind the dream sequences.... creepy yes..very but deffinently make max look a little bit more wacko... here here for marathon! yes i still have a macintosh hehe and i have the trilogy http://www.veforums.com/smile.gifi liked durandal the best. as for max payne it has some of the things that made marathon so great.... mainly kickass gameplay :

DeadMon July 26th, 2001 09:29 PM

Platform jumping did suck in those sequences, they should have left it as a labirinth without those gaps, but otherwise it was really original.. the shifted perspective and those endless coridors with his wife crying, and you run towards that sound.... damn it was creepy. but they shouldn't have put that Matrix/Humor thing in the 2nd dream, i know the game is not all that serious, but those dreams had their own atmosphere, and that joke about him being a computer game character kind of ruined it for me...

Matrix humor, where???
Anyways, It was cool to shoot yourself http://www.veforums.com/smile.gif

RollingBrass July 27th, 2001 02:55 PM

You can shoot yourself? How?
I remember the dev team stating a few months ago that it was possible to commit suicide, but they omitted the control to do so (but it might be possible to find out how to do it). Is this what you are talking about?

Xion- July 27th, 2001 02:57 PM

you guys seem to miss the point here...Max Payne is a graphic novel...any of you ever read a comic book?

This game is like an interactive comic book...so its going to have transitions such as the dream states...

BoonDock Saint July 27th, 2001 03:01 PM

the dreams were good but juss to long, thats my only complaint but i do think that they were neccesary.

57Chevy July 27th, 2001 03:02 PM

Yeah, but it's also a video game. Jumping through the blood-trail maze once is fine I suppose and adds a little something different from the shooting, but having to suffer it again gets a little tedious, despite how much it may add to the story.

Chris25 July 27th, 2001 11:07 PM

The platform jumping and trail running could have been left out, imho.
The dreams at large, I think are good and agree with other posters on the adding of atmosphere.

Infrared July 27th, 2001 11:12 PM

I agree i think thier f**k**g gay. No poin in them and hate to play them.

i really loved the first dream sequence.

scary as hell and great atmosphere.

i was freaked that the wife was gonna jump out and start crying hysterically with cartooish like features.

the dream sequence is awesome and really adds to Max's character.

RollingBrass July 27th, 2001 11:17 PM

I agree with heyhey
Why won't anyone tell me how you can get Max to eat a bullet?! :P
