Rap,

Where do you see enable EAX Settings? I've got the game in front of me right now, and I dont see such a thing in game or in the pre-game settings.

thanks

I had already tried all that before I posted (I have worked in tech support for about 3 years for various companies so I know to check the simple stuff) but thanks for the suggestions so far...

CreativeOne, ya know, now that you ask me, I can't find it.
But I'm sure I saw it before...

Hmm..

This is the only game I've played recently, so I couldn't have seen it somewhere else..

Oh yes, I should note I have a Live!Value (CT4830) and a DTT3500, the setup is in digital mode, and works fine. except the defective digital cable sometimes generates 'static' that is cleared by tapping it. I need to get a new one..

any new news Creative one?

CreativeOne July 27th, 2001 08:08 AM

Sorry to take so long to get back to you all.

Here's my setup:

"Titanium"
WindowsME
1.3 Ghz T-bird
KT7A-RAID Mobo
256mb pc133 ram
Geforce 3 (Visiontek)
SBLive! 5.1 Plaintium Edition
DTT 3500
other stuff that isn't relevant

What I found:

the positional audio for the game is very picky. If you fire a weapon, and it's in your right hand, you will hear it predominately in your right speaker. Got 2 weapons? You'll hear it in both front speakers. If you hear someone start talking, you will hear them loud and clear until you're a very far distance away. Occlusion isnt really taken into account at all. (I havn't found an instance of it in the game, thus far.)

EAX is not supported in Max Payne. This isnt an EAX problem. It's just the way that Remedy did the sound code. This is prooven by the guy who had the same issue with the Aureal vortex card above.

All I can really suggest is playing a bit with the sound accelleration and trying the digital output on your sound card if your speakers support it.

Sorry I couldn't be more of a help.

Let me know if you all have any more issues.
