No, this is not Patch 3... it's Patch 2!
I'm going to be blunt here and say that... Doctor_X... I'll put this lightly... this has been a ROLLERCOASTER RIDE since January of this year.
I have a lot of patience. A lot of people on the net don't. However, they have every right to be impatient. The way the Patch 3 updates have been conducted (though well-done) have been unprofessional in one regard.
I (I don't know about others... but I) have felt in the last couple of weeks like I was a puppet and had my strings being pulled.
Yes, this is just a game, but please, if you are uncertain about the date of release, then don't say anything about the patch in the first place because it seems that (or it looks like) you're leading people on. I cannot see in anyway how this can be productive. A lot of people are just wasting their time on these boards talking about Patch 3 with nothing to show for it.
If people are going to get ticked off for thinking this is a Patch 3 release, then fine... I hope they release some steam that's boiling through their veins.
First of all, it's just a game, but I don't like the politics of this board lately... it's making me want to throw up.
If patch 3 is going to be release soon, Doctor_X fine, but please conduct the release in a swift and professional manner, rather than dragging the posters' heels (though maybe a small population to those who play the game) through this. We may be a minority in ratio to those who have the game, but seriously... saying "Monday has 9 hours left" gives the impression that the patch is coming out on Monday even though in reality you're just saying Monday has 9 hours left in the Pacifice Timezone.
If this was suppose to be your sense of humour, it's definitely not appropriate at this moment of time for there are many (I use to be one of them) that constantly check this board for the arrival of patch 3... since January!

Feb 01, 2001. That's when the official kickoff of Patch 3 details at veforums.com in my opinion. We all thought at the time of the IGN chat (though not officially stated) that the patch was coming out in 2 weeks... either that was a rumour, or we need to get the IGN chat log, it's up to you. Hopefully it wasn't stated in that chat log.
This was Feb 11, 2001. Doc... you stated that it wasn't 2 weeks. Ok, maybe it was a mistake on some posters part, but for some reason a lot of us thought it was going to come out in 2 weeks and somebody during that 2 week period should have said something at the time because that's when the Patch 3 came into high gear (as to waiting for it)
Now this was at
Feb 25th, I think Doc... you stated that a date wasn't concrete... OK... now the date isn't concrete... the posters at the time didn't know what to believe... so... alright... what can you do really? Nothing.
I guess I'm not going to win that twinkie. March 5th update. Details of Patch 3 (though said earlier by Sophistry) March 14? Sophistry got all bugs... ok, at the time, we're expecting the patch to come out... sometime that weekend. March 18th... between the 23rd and 26th... or whenever. This folks, in ground zero.
Frankly, I can wait an eternity... but from what I see, this can't be good for Shiny as a whole. Though, you have done your best to keep the posters at bay, Doc, but in result, you have kept these posters on the edge of their seats.
If you haven't noticed... they are hoping for Patch 3 to be released... soon... very soon.
Just put BETA on it, and release it ASAP. Talking about Patch 3 is only going to hamper the Sacrifice scene as a whole. I can't honestly see the past 2 months as a "wonderful time" (with what happened at the Map contest), and BFL.... it's just been one mess after another.
With Patch 3, Shiny has a chance to make everyone a winner. This would definitely boost the morale. Anything less, could result in bad customer relations.
So, for your next Patch 3 update (I've seen them all)... be extremely careful in how you tell your updates with certain words, because they *WILL* be interpreted in a way which we all think that Patch 3 will be out before you know it.
This particular game (Patch 3 updates) has to stop until you can be 100% certain it's going to be on fileplanet.com right when you post it.
