Scenario question I have been able to figure out triggers and such pretty well, but one thing puzzles me. My enemy wizard seems pretty stupid, he doesn't even bother constructing a manalith on the fountain right in front of his nose. I assume the AI is by default set to unpaused, although I will try doing that explicitly when I get home. But is there something I am missing here? Why is my wizzy a moron? |
Hard to say at this point. It could be that the god your ai wizard is assigned to, doesn't match the type of manaliths you've given him. Or you haven't given him any starting manaliths. If the ai has plenty of mana and souls, it should run around doing stuff naturally. 90% of the time and AI wizard doesn't do anything, its because they aren't getting enough mana to work with, no mana=no actions...Its a good idea to start a scenario and have the ai control at least 2 manaliths right from the start, perferrable with one near his alter. Hope that helps.... ------------------ Single Player Sac-Maps: http://members.nbci.com/tenthoracle/sacmaps.htm Scapex-Working with Triggers http://members.nbci.com/tenthoracle/Triggers.htm Aliens & UFOs Among Us http://www.bright.net/~phobia |
Thanks, I think that was it. As soon as I dropped some manaliths instead of just empty manafounts on my wizard he came after me frothing at the mouth. Odd, almost as if in a low mana supply situation the AI decides not to waste mana on useless things like manaliths and creatures! Do you know any rules of thumb on what the different aggression levels mean? I have seen settings from 20 to 100... |
Thats an extremely good question. I've experimented with a few different settings and haven't noticed a big difference. I would like to know the max aggression level possible. I've tried 100, and in zombie, at one point it gets set to 1000 but you cant really tell a difference. I wonder if when you input a number beyond the range, if it just assumes the max aggression level....not sure....try an aggression level of like 10 maybe and see if the wizard is a pushover... ------------------ Single Player Sac-Maps: http://members.nbci.com/tenthoracle/sacmaps.htm Scapex-Working with Triggers http://members.nbci.com/tenthoracle/Triggers.htm Aliens & UFOs Among Us http://www.bright.net/~phobia |
Well here is what the game designers did with aggression: In James level 9, Grakkus your ally offers to defend your altars or help attack. If you choose defend, AI is set to paused unless enemy units come close to the altars, then aggression is set to 100. Resets to pause once they are dead. If you choose attack, aggression is set to 80. So unless they were just screwing around, there would seem to be some tactical difference for 80 vs. 100. |
