Shared vision for multiplayer What do you guys (and you too, SomeGirl http://www.veforums.com/wink.gifthink about shared team vision on the mini map as a team game patch? I've been really impressed with the strategic depth of Sacrifice especially in team games, but communicating and coordinating is a bit too difficult without seeing what my allies see. While we're at it, I'd like to see a mini-map 'ping' like the one in Age of Kings. You could use it to quickly alert allies to a developing threat or opportunity for attack. There are so many brilliant design decisions in this game, its a shame to miss out on some proven interface features that would make team games that much better. Thoughts? |
This was already discussed in all depths. But whatsoever I agree of course... ...*sigh* SHINY! Just give us what we want and we will stop bugging you with 200 posts about the same topic... http://www.veforums.com/wink.gif ------------------ #sacrifice @ irc.enterthegame.com >>Learn how to get there<< |
Unfortunately, shared vision will not happen. The creature data is not guaranteed to be _exactly_ (it will be close though) the same on everybody's machines, and the further a creature is from enemy units, the more off it will be. This will lead to different vision data for each machine, and seeing enemies that another side sees (according to your machine) that they don't see (according to his). Make sense? Martin |
But we are looking at being able to display an allies altar, shrines, & manaliths on the mini-map as a compromise. Not sure yet if that is going to work. ------------------ Dave Merrick Designer Shiny Entertainment |
