Default Grrr... It *used* to work

System information:
Asus A7V (with Promise ATA100 onboard)
AMD Tbird 800
Geforce2 MX
sblive
win2k sp1 (no win9x on this machine)
DX8
Creative PC-DVD Encore (8x)

Before, My setup was:
Primary Master: Maxtor 30GB
Secondary Master: Removable HD
Secondary Slave: PC-DVD 8x

And the game ran (quite nicely). I have since got new hardware and made some changes to my setup:
Primary Master: PC-DVD 8x
Secondary Master: Acer 8x4x32
And I moved the Maxtor 30GB over to the Promise ATA100 controller.

Now sacrifice won't run Without patching, I get an error (I can send the dump if needed). With patch2, I see the splash screen and it just kicks out. Please help! I noticed many people pasting their DX report so here is mine:

Did some of your new hardware include one of the cd-rom drives you listed? If so, reinstall the game from the other drive. Before you do, though, follow these steps:

-Go into Control Panel->System->Performance->File System->CD-ROM.
-Set 'Optimize Access Pattern For:' to 'No Read-Ahead'.
-Press 'OK'.
-Click 'Device Manager', double-click 'CD-ROM', and double-click on the first drive listed.
-Click 'Settings', and look for the option 'DMA', uncheck it, and do the same for the other drive.
-Press 'OK', then 'Close'.

Now reinstall the game (from the other drive). Thanks.

I'm using win2k, DMA is already disabled, but I can't find the option to set no read-ahead. I already tried reinstallling, a few times, from different drives.

As for how well it ran, I had it set to 800x600x32 and I noticed no slow-down at all.

Try freeing up more space on your main drive (the one that has your pagefile). About 400 Mb should (hopefully) make a difference....
