Where to get latest drivers:

Most problems with this game (and just about any other game, for that matter) are solved with getting the latest drivers for your hardware. There are some exceptions, like the Voodoo3 3500, but those are by far outnumbered by the numbers of cards that usually just required the latest drivers. Keep in mind that some cardsare just repackaged version of the original chip-maker's reference design. For instance, the Diamond Monster 3d 2 is a Voodoo2, and in this case you will usually want to get the latest drivers for the Voodoo2 (rather than Diamond's). Here is a list of common hardware manufacturers and their websites:

3dfx makes the Voodoo series of cards.

Creative makes the SoundBlaster line of sound cards:

Nvidia makes the TNT, TNT2, and Geforce line of cards. MANY companies use Nvidia chips, and if you are having problems with that's company's drivers, try Nvidia's reference drivers:

Aureal makes the Vortex series of sound chips, used by many popular vendors. While Aureal is no longer in buisness, you can still get drivers from:
http://www.vortexofsound.com

ATI makes a very wide range of video cards. Their driver page is at:
http://support.ati.com/drivers/drivers.html

S3 supplied chips for many different cards, and also aquired Diamond, who was a large card manufacturer. If you have a Diamond Viper II or Stealth III S540, you can get drivers at:
http://www.s3.com/default.asp?menu=s...ubmenu=drivers

If you are not sure who makes your particular sound card or video card, post the device names (from dxdiag) here and I'll help you get the proper drivers.

Are there any plans to get the game working with a Voodoo 3500? Have you been breathing down 3dfx's neck about this card? It makes me very sad that I can't play with my proper drivers, and i cannot use the new 1.07 (666 drivers), and the 1.05 drivers aren't exactly made for my hardware.

thanks!

I'm going to get in touch with 3dfx and see if they have any insight into these problems. Can you list what type of motherboard, processor, and RAM you have?

Sure, I've got:
Asus P2B motherboard (100MHz FSB)
320 megs of PC100 RAM
3dfx Voodoo 3500TV
SoundBlaster Live! Value

Here is a post I left earlier explaining my situation with drivers:

Thank you for your help! If you have any questions feel free to ICQ me (my number is in the profile) or write me at spriseris@hotmail.com (i'll give you my real email address from my ISP if you write me there first, i just don't want some spammer picking my real address up)

Thanks again!

Ok, I'll pass that information along. In the meantime, you may wish to try a BIOS update from Asus. They have an update for the P2B that fixes some AGP problems. I would only recommend this if you are fairly comfortable with your hardware and know a little bit about basic DOS commands.

If you could, please let me know if 3dfx says anything about the voodoo 3500 drivers. i'm dying to get back to my drivers and be able to enable fog and run proper drivers for my card to play the game. as it stands now the game is incompatible with my video card and any driver version built for the 3500.
thank you.

Just wanted to make sure this didn't get passed up
(bump)
Thanks for your help, Brock.

No problem, I'm still on it. These things usually take a couple of days. If I understood your previous post correctly, you are able to play the game with a certain set of Voodoo3-3000 drivers, but you loose some of the functionality of your card, correct?

That's exactly correct. I can play using the Voodoo 3 (2000/3000) 1.05.00 drivers on my 3500 card. The new Voodoo 3 1.07.00 drivers do not work with my card. Any drivers written for my card will not work with Sacrifice (1.04.02, or any of the beta kits).
