"the thing is every person that gets cable in a neighborhood it gets slower, but dsl isnt that way. dsl rules everything."

this is not true. dispite what the dsl commercials are saying you ARE sharing your dsl connection. just not in the same place in the pipe as cable modem. after trying both here in orange county, cable modem is a little bit faster.

it really depends on what kind of dsl, plus if you have a shared T-1 and how many cable customers there are in an area.

I have T-1 service (which is technically vdsl) here where I live and I love it.

Well I have DSL and it has been a mixture of good and bad. I would rather have a cable modem. With games I have never had a problem with the DSL, but for web surfing, it really has problems. DSL (BellAtlantic) is new in my area so perhaps they are working out the kinks. Web surfing will be great for about 3-4 min and then stop dead in it tracks for about a full minute before picking up again. I havn't figured what the deal is but I suspect that the games are ok because they are not on port 80 ??? Still bizzare though. My friends with cable modems are all very happy with their service, and while in theory it(cable modem) does slow down the more people that are on it, in practice you don't experience it at all. If my DSL worked more consistently for web surfing I would be much happier with it. I did hear a rumor though that cable modems were more prone to packet loss, but I don't see why that would be true.

Auctally an Analog Modem is the fastest..if you have enough of them. For example my work has 125 An Modems...they link together and I get 2meg up and down!!

I'd put my vote in for T1 being the fastest of the three mentioned.

I heard T1 can get up to $10,000. Renting one is around $1,000.
