Some questions about multiplayer games...

I enjoy playing a lot of multiplayer games on my LAN at home, we have 4 game capable computers set up right now.
When I have 3 or 4 people able to play, it is great playing a RTS like StarCraft or AOE2 in free for all or on teams.
But that isn't always the case. Most of the time there are only 2 of us, and going head to head gets old to us real quick. We like bigger games, so we add computer characters.
StarCraft was great for going cooperatively against the computer, as they were a good challenge. AOE2 was great because we could play cooperatively with 2 computers on our team, against 4 others, which was just insane.

My question is this. Is it possible to play 2 players cooperative against a computer/2 computers?
How difficult is the computer in skirmish? Would 2 computers put up a good fight against 2 average players?
Could I be on the same team as a computer, while I fight my friend with a computer on his team?
What different modes are there in multiplayer? I was saddened that StarCraft AIs didn't do too well in modes other than kill the other players.
Thanks in advice for any answers.

Yes you can skimish against the tuff computer AI...and the cool thing is...there levels of diff seem to change with each game insuring a completly new fight each time.
Least this is what I have experenced.Get the game...its incredable!

Starcraft AIs are terrible. They are no match for an average player.
Yes, you can do two players against two computers in this game. I haven't played much skirmishes, however o_O
