That's the most stupid thing I've heard all day! You want to avenge the death of those 10000 people by killing millions of more people! You're just as evil as those terrorists.

Although out of anger I would like to have a magic bullet to end all the troubles that the Middle East brings to the world, but unfortunately it doesnt exist.

I dont think I would shed too many tears for those celebrating the demise of the WTCs. I even wouldnt care for the demise of the Middle East as we know it by way of what Helg eluded to but that is only because of the distance I have given myself to that side of the world. Maybe what I am trying to get across is that we should finally stomp out the real reason this persists: Oil dependency and the large disparity between the countries that would otherwise have nothing to add to the world economy as we know it. Anti-Western thinkers only envy the way we live and our reluctance to adapt to the fanatical religon that they so ardantly cling to. Dont get me wrong. I agree that anyone should beleive in what they want but when human life is deemed so cheap to those that practice thiers, then that crosses the line and my tolerance is gone for thier beliefs.

Sorry for being so rambling and irate but dammit this has to stop!

I just flew back home Sunday on American Airlines in a 757. Talk about hitting home! All I could think about was the size of the aircraft and what the people aboard were going through. Damn those that did this and I hope that the fires, that damn thier souls, find them.

Helgrador September 12th, 2001 12:40 AM

I'm seriously crying. This is so evil. People being interviewed, all this crying and fear, Im usually the kind of guy who wouldn't care about anything but himself, but this time.........this time I feel so very sorry. I deserved to be in those buildings, now I'm gonna wake up every morning, being thankful that I've survived another day.

Oh give me a break. This event took Ameirca completely by surprise, that's why I find it funny that you have to constantly make it such a large issue about it. Yes, it's American Pride if you haven't heard already heard muffy; the one thing that makes America so goddamn dumb, I wish we could back to debating to what we used to always talk about. This issue will in no way be able to be resolved by us anymore, I believe that we all have stated how bad we feel and have offered praise for the dead ones. I don't believe it would be fair to startup this revenge propaganda and talk about "Oh if only they were a country we'd nuke them to the core". Well too bad, it's your fault America and there's no need to brag about how you can kill Terrorists.

I'm with you muffy. Don't let Mm-_- get you down. Its just like his young mind to show his personal prejudice for Americans at a time like this. I mean after all, if we were to base our opinion of people in his country(us) on our experiences with him...we would have to conclude that they are a people of little compassion that thrive on conflict, which would be an unfair assessment....much like his steriotypical views towards us(americans). I mean, I'm the first to say that our government often sticks its noise where it doesn't belong and we may appear like big a-holes but not everyone is like that. Its a shame that most people in the U.S. are judged by our governments deeds because a politician or government figure over here has a very different mindset then the average american citizen. Most of us are generally good people just trying to make it in day to day life, much like the rest of you. And aside from that, it matters little that this occured in the U.S., these were still innocent lives no matter where it took place....its indeed a great tragedy. At least Pearl Harbor was a millitary strike. This was much worse because these were innocent civilians who had no idea it was coming. The people celebrating the death of innocense sickens me. Most americans would take a compassionate stand in response to another country being attacked like this. We would acknowledge the attack on innocent lives as horrific and most likely help rebuild (if it were a country we had good enough standing with that would allow such help or aid) or any other way we could, much as we've done in the past. I hope most of you people of other countries realize that we are not bad people and please do not base your opinion of us on steriotypical views, but rather you own personal experience with us as individuals. Like most places, some of us are the nicest people you'll ever meet....while others are as primitive or barbaric as a terrorist. I think we come in all shapes, sizes and colors, and it matter not where you live. You make the best of what you have been given or rather brought into. This is a great tragedy for all of us....

Carl Bildt in Sweden said something that is very true, he said something like this:
"Countries today are very vurnable!
If some journalist would happen to know this before it happened, and he told everyone. What would REALLY happen???
Would they evacuate Pentagon, WTC and other important buildings???
Would they send up planes to shoot down these airplanes containing innocent people?
Would they really trust ONE guy???"
I guess no...

I believe the gulf war was about us trying to make sure our gas supply kept comeing. We keep sticking our noses where it does not belong and we will be hated fairly fast. I think we are seen as golith and they would feel like they are david.

No we really didnt deserve this, but i honestly thought they were gonna use nuclear bombs in places such as the white house, and i thought they would do it around when i hit 50.

This is such a very weak attack that it was pulled off with blunt objects and sharp knifes. Im suprised they did it this soon though.

If you are going to go to war with somebody you better win so if you want to fight with "them" you better kill them all becuase you will just make your self more hated if you leave behind survivors.

a idiot like me could tell that we were gonna get it in the rear when we we werent looking. Thats why im not shocked at all about this. I honestly dont think we have any thing to fear from germany, russia, australia, china, japan. I do fear that iraq is such a underdog that it, if stupid enuff will take drastic measures to try to pull of a win but really just end up getting it self beat down.

Helgrador dont cry, people are kidnapped, raped, molested, tortured, killed on a daily basis, most of it you probably dont hear about but if you took the time to care about it all you will end up liveing a misrable life.

Those people celebrating in the streets of Palestine may very well have been celebrating something other than a couple of big buildings destroyed. They may actually have been celebrating an imminent trip to their own "Valhalla", their own "Heaven".

Long ago (1984), Meir Kahane and Yasir Arafat were scheduled to hold a debate at our high school. Arafat cancelled, leaving only Kahane to tell us how much more wonderful his people were then we, shedding light on the heart of the conflict there. Long have we sided with the Israelis there simply because they read the first half of our "book of choice". Now the war there will never end until there are either no people left to fight it, or the two religions there dissolve. Now that the US has unwillingly become a major player in this age-old conflict, one is a little more likely than the other. I'm not looking foward to the costs we will pay as a people.

I do not look foward to the upcoming events, whatever they may be, but there are still 3 people I have not been able to track down that work(ed) near Wall Street. I can't say I feel sorry for anyone that dies, innocent or not, as a means to whatever end our own crazy leader seeks to accomplish. I don't want to see lots of innocent people killed, and I was outraged at Desert Storm for killing more civilians than troops. But if it happens, I just don't really care.

I don't care because there is something I will always remember about the World Trade Center. From the top, I could see New York just as I had on the maps I collected. From the street level, it cast a long shadow on a late summer day. You could walk northward for what seemed like an eternity and still be in the shadow of one of the towers. A reaffirming shadow, a nurturing one. That shadow will never be cast again. And as far as I am concerned, someone needs to pay for that.

I just hope someone else's shadow doesn't get taken away.

i heard that the hijackers told the people on the plane that they were gonna die and what building they were gonna hit, then the poeple called there familys said they were gonna die and told them what building they were gonna hit.

I also heard that they slit the flight attendents throats to try to get the pilots to open up.

If this is true i blame the people for cowering. If it was me, i would have attacked becuase i have allways been taught what to do in this situation soon as i was ol d enuff to leave the house.

Elrick September 12th, 2001 08:46 AM

Yes its easy to sit back and say "I would have done this" or "I would have done that"...because I'm prepared or whatever...but the truth of the matter is that you can pretend to be as tough as you want but you never know what you'll do until you're put in that situation. We dont know the full circumstances and in all likely hood, you would have just gotten yourself or somebody else killed....If there was an easy way out, they would have taken it. You dont think all those people just wanted to die do you....

I have been brain washed into this Condition. When i was little i was told this, if some one ever grabs you or pulls out a gun or a knife and says do as i say or i will kill you, you better run and if you cant run you better fight and fight becuase there is going to be far worse than getting shot and stabbed done to you. I dont fear death as much as every body else, and if that was the situation and all they had was knifes and said you were gonna die hitting this building, i would have done a mad charge soon as some one had there back turned and do as much damage as i possibly could and if i died then i did it for my self becuase i will not go quitly.

You think its easy to say, its just as easy to do, why dont you corner me and see what fury i can release. I never would have stood by and watched some one being stabbed. NEVER.

Elrick September 12th, 2001 09:28 AM

jsut listen to yourself. That last statement is almost funny, but more sad. Have you ever had somebody hold a gun to your head to where you were convinced you were gonna die unless you did as told? Have you ever had a knife held tightly to your throat? Have you ever watched as people were killed around you as an example of what would happen if you didn't listen? There is no need for the tough front right now and there isn't much "fury" when the majority of your blood is flowing out onto the floor...do you actually belief you are so much different from everyone else? Sure, we all like to think that we are different, but when we come down to it, we all live by the same basic emotions and instincts. It doesn't matter how much you've been preached to about what to do in a particular situation and is no way comparable to real first hand experience. When a real situation occurs, all bets are off. Unless you've had some form of training and know how to deal with foriegn terrorist, you may just end up getting a bunch of people or yourself killed. This is a sad time for those effected and not a time to try to boost your impression of what others think of you...be honest, you have no idea what you would have done. I'ld like to think that if I were on board, I would have done something to help, but I must also rationalize that fact that I don't know what I would have done until actually in their shoes. Dont you think that others or at least one person on those flights had the same idea? But when there are 3 to 5 terrorist perhaps even holding hostages, the situation is will always be very extreme and dangerous....there is sometimes a fine line between heroics and stupidity...choose carefully.

The plane that crashed in PA had a report of one cell phone call from a husband who said this, they are cutting the flight attendents and we are all shuffled to the back, they told us we are going to die but i think we are going to try something. Hence it didnt get to camp david. So if this report is true people did do it and i applaud them. I am no different than the people on that plane who did there best. Who knows how many lives they did save becuase of it.

When some one tells you you are all gonna die, then you are worried about you might die 5 minutes earlyer doesnt worry me. Not only that i have thought about shooting my self a couple of times and the idea for some reason doesnt really bother me to much, what really bothers me is shooting my self and i dont do it right and i turn out to be a vegatable.

Soon as you give in to somebody like that you lose every thing. Specialy if all they have is 4 inch knifes.

OK, so far, they have found 3 Arab suspects, they had a flight manual in arabic also. If I were on the team searching for the bastard, he'd be riddled by so many bullets, they'd have to peel him off the bullets. That bastard deserves as gruesome a death as he can get. He killed thousands of civilians, there is no excuse for this. And to the Mm, you are a total idiot if you think this is just American pride. When america has attacked anyone, it has always been military targets such as AA guns, weapon facilities... This was a group of business offices with atleast 50,000 people in them, along with about 500 people on the airplanes alone. If this had happened anywhere else, I'd feel just as bad, attacking civilians is just wrong. I feel kinda sorry for you ignorant little mind... But if I were in one of the airplanes, I really don't know what I would do. I'm sure I wouldn't have done anything alone, but I would have gladly helped in any way I could.

But what makes it even harder for me is I'm too young to give blood, and I cannot get to New York to help. But it's reassuring seeing that there was a 3 hour wait at the blood donation centers, people really do care...

This may very well end up in a very, very large war against the middle east. I can see how some might desire such a thing.

Really, though...whoever did this was either insane, or something far, far worse.

Johny, it really is different when you actually have a gun to your head. I remember I used to always think I would do something like fight back if someone ever held a gun to my head, but it actually happened. I was driving through Los Angeles when I was 16 years old and was at a stoplight with a bunch of other cars and some guy just ran right into the street, right up to my car, and pulled a gun on me and I was scared ****less and ended up giving him my wallet because that was all I had, and I'm not really a coward and don't usually back down to fights unless its totally one sided. It really is different.

Of course I sympathize with the tragedy at hand, but I can't believe that none of you knew that information about America being a dominant figure in other nations was being withheld from you! America has concealed everything that it has done except for that which has already been found out about, I suppose the plane that crashed in China was only for Americans to look into since it was their plane. So imagine what would happen if an Iraqi Jet crashed into the US and Iraq refused to let the US open it, is that fair? No, of course not. America takes control of its opportunity, sometimes in good ways, but I hate to say that they also do it just as often in bad ways.

China and Russia? I always thought our closest allies were Western Europe and maybe Australia. Its actually pretty important we get the support of the Chinese and the Russians on this situation because they are some of the largest military powers in the world. Also, if we were to invade the Middle East/Afghanistan/wherever, then it would probably be a good idea to make sure they they wouldn't get ****ed off, because they would be in a better position to fight back considering they're on the continent. I doubt that they would object or anything if we took action there. I mean, why would they care as long as we didn't threaten them in any way?

I'm probably only saying this because I've just woken up and can't think straight, but I think we should invade Afghanistan, take it over, kick out those Taliban pieces of ****, and stick in some sort of more moderate democratic government and then while its getting started, keep occupying Afghanistan until they prove that the leaders won't abuse their power.

Hell, while we're at it, we should find an excuse to invade the rest of the Middle East and then we should simply do that, then seize their oil fields. Then, just for fun, we would stick them all under Israel's rule and we would control the oil fields just to **** them off. That way we control the only thing that gets them any money and then stick them in the clutches of their worst enemy. Then, if there are any more terrorist attacks, we simply bomb some random city until we kill an equal or greater number of people ourselves.

Anyways, pardon me if my previous idea was stupid. I'll probably regret saying it later.

Why didn't the people fight back? Here's my take on it. These guys definately changed the rules in hijacking. I cannot recall any instance where a plane was hijacked for the purpose of destroying it. Always before, there were demands and negotiations. Your best chance to survive a hijacking were to just quietly do whatever the hijackers told you because you were, after all, a bargaining chip. The hijackers needed you for leverage in the negotiations. I would imagine the passengers had similar thoughts.

Had I been one of the planes, would I have resisted? Doubtful. I'd have done what I thought was the best thing for my own and everyone else's survival. And it would seem, so did those unfortunate souls on the planes. Those on the plane in Pennsylvania only fought back after learning via cell phone what had happened in New York. They quickly realized what was going on and knew they had to stop it. I hope I would be as courageous as them if I were in that situation. Please, let's not criticize the victims.

First off its not about how much of a hero i would have been, INFACT i probalby would have seen the flight attened get stabbed, i would have said im gonna go do something, i probably would have gotten my self stabbed in the process and died a minutes earlyer. When somebody tells you you are gonna die and call your loves ones you are gonna die and they are cutting up people you better dam well believe them.

i dont say it cuz im hero like, infact the oposite. When you have nothing to lose you are dangerous, all of you are.

TheMad September 14th, 2001 03:46 PM

Or you're a wimp. Anyways, all this "would have" stuff is just stupid. Who knows. Situations like that can bring out the best or worst in all of us, and I doubt there's any way of knowing until confronted with a situation like that.

The reason why people didn't fight back is you are told not to fight against terrorists, you should comply with their demands. The people did the right thing, only these were not the usual (if there is a thing) terrorists. They didn't know to fight for their lives. The forth plane supposedly crashed because the people found out and tried to aviod certain death.

My prayers to all who lost, and Let the US not have mercy on any terrorists and the Taliban.

Also please don't brand all Muslim as the same, they are as different from the terrorists as I am.
