Mini-Map Problems After reading through different postings, I decided to post my own on the subject, because I've tried everything it says and I still have the same problems. My mini-map and the god-face screen when they talk, are just a jumble of lines, and it's hard to play without a mini-map. I have a ATI Rage 128XPert, and I've tried every possible setting and it won't go away, the worst part is that I didn't use to have this problem, it appeared when I did all the other stuff to be able to play normally. BTW, I'm running DirectX 8.0, would going back to 7.0 help, maybe? Thanks for the help. This game rocks, but I may give up and wait till the X-Box release to come back to it. |
Please confirm the following - You have disabled fog in the graphics menu You are using Driver 4.12.6292 If you have these already then please post your DXDIAG info.. Thnx Doctor X Producer Of Sorts Shiny Entertainment |

You might want to try reinstalling the game. First, go into Control Panel, System, Performance, File System, CDROM, and set the Access Pattern to No Read Ahead. Press OK. Click Device Manager, double click on CDROM, then open the properties window for your cdrom drive, and click Settings. Make sure DMA is unchecked, then press OK and Close. Also, click Start, Run, and type in msconfig, click on the Startup tab, and uncheck everything except for System Tray, and press OK and restart. Now Reinstall. ------------------ James Kompare Interplay Technical Support support@interplay.com |
I too have had this problem. I'm running sacrifice on a p3 450, with a Rage fury 32mb agp card (driver 4.12.01.6292), and 128mb ram, and running the same version of directx as came with sacrifice. It seems that after a reboot, the minimap, and the gods would be scrambled. My roommate, who also has the same graphics card and driver had the same problem with his first install, though after a reinstall it has yet to recur (he runs directx 8). At the advice of a different post, I used msconfig to edit Startup, and eliminated everything short of Systemtray, and the problem has yet to recur. Seeing how this seems to affect ATI rage128 cards, my guess that it would have something to do with either Atiptaxx.exe or ati2evxx.exe, although it could be something else used by the ati card. Hope this is of some help. Foto |
hrm.. or maybe not. However it seems the number of reboots to get it functioning again is down to 2. It seems to work again after a boot without the registry updating. Still unsure of what's causing this particular action. Foto |

Is successive rebooting (rebooting 2 or more times without playing sacrifice) fix the problem too? It seems to work for both my comp, and that of my roommates (roughly same specs, same ATI card). This issue should be addressed. I've noticed ATI has posted some Beta drivers for better DX8 and OpenGL support, which I'm willing to test out once patch3 is out http://www.veforums.com/smile.gif -Foto |
