Bug at end of Old Town
 

I have had relatively few problems with Messiah up to this point and this is the only time where I cannot continue the game. I have just been through the sequence where Bob kills Father Prime, and then talks to Satan, then God. Bob then goes up through the elevator, and I end up at the top. However, I can't get the big door in front of me to open. When i approach the door, the little symbol to go through appears in the lower left, but when I push the action button nothing happens. So I am stuck in this position. I have tried to restore from an earlier saved game and repeat the process, but the same thing happened. I have applied the patch that is on the website. Any ideas?
PS I updated Messiah w/ the patch released yesterday, but the bug explained above still happens. I can't get out of that damn elevator room!
