| I don't spend enough time here
Join Date: November 21st, 2000 Rep Power: 0 | I have found that it is pretty common that you will find yourself in a bit of a stalemate type situation like you describe. The enemy attacks, you slaughter him/it. But he/she is able to scoop up his/her souls before you can convert.
What I do in those situations is try my hardest to focus ALL firepower on the wizard as soon as possible. Basically, you need to make taking down the enemy sorceror your #1 priority. If you can take him out, then usually you can whack at least one of his other creatures and grab a soul or three =).
If that doesn't work, forget about his forces for a while and try taking out some of his manaliths. That will at least reduce his mana regen thus giving him less speed ups.
Another tactic I used sometimes is to find one of his manaliths that has some guardianed creatures. Then I try to engage the enemy somewhat near that manalith (or at least be ready to charge for that manalith later) and after I kill the opposing wizard, I go to his guardianed manalith, and attack it like mad. Usually I can kill his guardianed creatures while the wizard is still dead, and thereby gain a few souls.
Hope that helps.
