Poopsie, any idea why there is a conflict between the GeForce2 GTS and the VIA chipset mobos? When I boot from cold (ie power up rather than reset) it often does the three beep-one beep (this is no graphics adaptor found noise) and there is no video output but then when I reset it it boots fine. This seems a very odd error as the GF1 is fine and that uses more power than the GF2 so it can't be that. I was woundering if your QA dept. had come across this problem during system testing? ------------------ -Shivoa http://www.sacrifice.org.uk/ http://www.smgskins.org.uk/ http://www.TRt.org.uk/ |
I don't think it is a power problem. I have an athlon 650 on a fic mobo with, I think, a via chipset. I have the same problem you described. Happens pretty rarely and always boots after reset. I think if it were a problem of the card persistently getting less power than needed or inconsistent power post start up, you'd probably get other problems. I had a power problem on one geforce card (one a p3 600 intel mobo) and got terrible corruption in the display though it booted fine. However, I don't have a solution, or even a hint of one, for the problem you mentioned. Sorry. -joby -joby |

Poopsie, I think I've found a solution (or at least a way of making it less common). Turn on Wake on LAN in the BIOS. Since I turned that on (I also reinstalled 1004Bios after deciding 1005 wasn't better but this is mobo specific and so won't apply to yours) it has not failed to startup the video card at startup so problem solved AFAIK. ------------------ -Shivoa http://www.sacrifice.org.uk/ http://www.smgskins.org.uk/ http://www.TRt.org.uk/ |
