Question Halo 2 XP Help

Hello everyone, I'm 'bout to get Halo 2 for XP but I don't know if it will work/do what I want it to do. I'm a bit worried about how it will run on my PC.

My PC Specs:

Windows XP, Service Pack 3
Intel Pentium 4
CPU 1.50GHz
768 MB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce MX/MX 400

So, I don't know if I can run it, if I can, what settings? If I can't according to the specs of the game, is there any way to boost FPS and lower settings lower than what they are meant for?

If I can run it, is XP multiplayer? Do I need an actual account on a site, or just a profile like in Halo: CE?

Thanks for the help!

It's got no chance. 1) because your hardware won't support it, and 2) Halo 2 PC only runs on Vista or better.

As Mr. Tepes said, Halo 2 will only run in Vista and newer, regardless of the spec of your computer. It was part of Microsoft's plan to try and force gamers to upgrade to their new OS back in the day. Moreover, Microsoft just announced that they are going to be shutting down the Halo 2 servers, so if you were hoping on playing some multiplayer I wouldn't rush to upgrade for that reason alone, as I'm afraid you'll be disappointed.

Thanks for the help. Didn't know it wasn't on XP. Gonna have to break out the old Xbox to play some co-op with some buds.

You're welcome. I know how it is to buy a game that won't run on the current hardware

Unless, of course, you find a certain set of files that allow it to work on XP. Way back when the game was fairly new, a few friends of mine were running the game on XP through some weird setup they had... I'd ask them what they did to make it work on XP, but I'm not exactly in contact with them anymore... :/ But I know there is a way to get it to run on XP if your specs can handle it.
