"Today we are saying farewell with warm regards to Cliff Bleszinski, who is departing as Epicís design director to chart the next stage of his career.
Iíve been doing this since I was a teenager, and outside of my sabbatical last year, I have been going non-stop. I literally grew up in this business, as Mike likes to say. And now that Iím grown up, itís time for a much needed break."
I don't know if anyone's seen this, but it's always sad when a name so well known in the industry departs. I was a big fan of Cliff Bleszinski and how he constantly emphasized that with hard work and determination, you can achieve what you want to achieve.
A lot of big names are departing the industry now. First the doctors from Bioware, now Cliffy B. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.
At the same time we have some new big names like Notch, and the guys who did angry birds. Services like kick-starter will allow more Notches to get into the industry and be noticed. You still have many big names such as the guys at Valve and Japanese developers. I don't see it as a bad thing. Big name actors retire from acting a die all the time, but the movie industry is not in danger.
