Most time spent playing a video game?
 

So I've been playing NBA2K11 almost everyday now for the last year and half and I believe that I've probably put in about 300+ hours in the game over that period of time. So my question to you guys is what's the longest or most time you have put into one single game.

Probably World of Warcraft, from 2006 to nearly begin 2012 and I've probably spent more than 3100 hours playing it. Jedi Academy is quite close too.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, 2004 to present. Endless character builds, every playthrough is different. I don't even think I've ever finished the main quest either, the guilds and countless side-quests are enough.

And I still haven't even touched Tamriel Rebuilt yet, waiting until I fix my gaming rig so I can run the MGO alongside it.

I can't wait for the seconhd package to come out, it's going to add a ton of factions and quests (including the House Dagoth, House Indoril, The Dark Brotherhood, and I believe the Camonna Tong). All of them were independently developed and previously released by separate teams so I'm hoping the quality will be up to par with the vanilla faction arcs.

According to my Bad Company 2 stats page:

Mass Effect 2 probably comes second, 9 playthroughs at about 30 hours on average = 270 hours.

No idea how long it took, but I have every character on SSX Tricky at full stats (i.e winning gold in every event with every character) plus all the hours I spent practicing multi-million point runs on Garibaldi, probably puts it in contention for my most played childhood game.

I've probably put 600+ hours into KotOR 1 and 2 combined. Too much modding.

Probably World of Warcraft. I'd make a guess and say 2100 hours since 2007, on and off. I likely spent around half that amount in Jedi Academy and Star Wars Galaxies, back when it was really active.

Jesus Christ man! That's quite an impressive number. I think I've spent.....maybe 20 hours on Saints Row the Third, the game I'm currently playing.

Definitely Modern Warfare 2 on my Xbox. I have spent many a nights up playing it with my friends since its release.

I was going to answer with KotOR. Because that was a huge game, and one of those rare games where I thought, 'I need more of this', so the instant I'd finished it I started a new game. And then another new game. And another. We're talking hundreds of hours here, if not thousands.

And then I realised that the Mass Effect series, in total, has probably claimed more hours as a whole. Thousands is a minimum here, rather than an upper estimate.

Then I realised that if we're including entire franchises, that The Elder Scrolls probably holds the record.

And then I realised that the Fallout series probably has more hours under my belt than even that.

And then I realised, fuck you. I'm a nerd. I can't quantify. And Vampire; Bloodlines: The Masquerade probably holds the record.

And then I realised that I don't really know.

Diablo 2. I put countless hours of my life into that game over the course of a six or seven year period, thousands of Baal runs and play-throughs on Hell difficulty, but never once getting IK armour in a drop... That game used to be great, but over time there developed just a handful of character builds that were actually useful in Hell, like Hammerdins, and IMO the game became fairly boring as there was no longer much variety in character builds and gameplay.

Probably Mass Effect. I would guess the total number of hours combined from all three games in the series would have to be around 250. And that's not even including ME3 multiplayer which i've spend endless hours on...

PORTAL 2. I downloaded it and refused to leave my room till I completed it, which was about the whole day.

I spent roughly 2000 hours playing Star Wars Galaxies over the years. Jedi Academy is probably in the hundreds at least. I have spent probably about 500 hours on the Mass Effect Trilogy too, i usually take about 70 hours per game.

SWTOR is probably already in the hundreds too!

I just downloaded minecraft for the 360, I foresee hundreds of hours invested in this game in the coming months. especially winter time.

Back when I played WoW I spent thousands of hours leveling up and grinding for things.

Now that I play STO I've probably also spent thousands of hours leveling up and I've spent even more time recently grinding the elite stf's to get the MK XII M.A.C.O. gear. I'm now working on grinding those same elite stf's to grind the MK XII Omega Force gear. I'm also running missions that grant fleet marks to give to the growth of our fleet starbase.

According to my steam hours, Skyrim is my most played game. However, I think if I count games I played before Steam even kept track of playing hours, Team Fortress 2 would exceed that.

Before that, it would be a close call between Morrowind or Unreal Tournament 2004.

I'd have to say the most time spent on a game for me would be D2. I started playing it when it came out and to this day still play it on occasion. After that would probably have to be WoW.
