Default Torchlight II

Torchlight II is right around the corner. (Maybe. If Runic Games reaches its desired level of polish.) For a while, pre-orders have been up on both GamersGate, Perfect World, and Steam, with their assorted bonuses, but the game has had a nondescript release date listed. However, their recent updates seem to indicate the game is getting closer to release now. While the game was originally scheduled for a Summer 2011 release, it was pushed back a year to give Runic Games time to polish it even further, which, if their blog posts are to be believed, they have done a good piece of work on.

I wasn't certain if it would be worth preordering until I heard the amount of praise given by beta testers, as well as seeing this image:
Spoiler:

... So, anyone else have it preordered, or will you be waiting for the reviews?

I don't pre-order anything anymore. I won't even buy it until it's been out a week or so and the lets plays have gone up.

Not because I think it's likely to be bad, but just incase. It costs me nothing to effectively shift the release schedule for every game forwards by a week - I'm not waiting any longer inbetween my games.

What I've seen of it looks really nice. I enjoy the first game a fair bit and they seem to have taken that and honed it to a fine edge.

I'm usually not the kind of person who preorders games, since I, too, prefer waiting for the first videos to go up. But I made an exception in this case, since it's only $20/€20 and I feel Runic Games proved they could deliver with the original game. And in this case, there was a preorder bonus that I gave to someone anyway.

Going to be loving this one! It's actually made by the same people that made Diablo 2 (at least some of them).

I believe the founders of Runic Games worked for Blizzard North, yes. So far, according to the "Not-A-Blog Redux" posts on the ofifcial forums, they've began polishing Act 4, and will be moving onto Act 5 soon. Hopefully, that means a release date is in sight. Preferably before the end of this year, too.

The beta was great, I have no doubt that this will be one of the best games of the year.

Just looking into it and looks great, although too similar to Diablo 3. I mean, Rune system? Really?

Also, you guys heard of Path of Exile? Looks great too!

Runic Games have announced that they'll make an announcement where they'll announce(yes, seriously) the release date for Torchlight 2 at PAX Prime next week. Specifically, Friday the 31st of August. This means two things; They're confident that the game is complete and only requires some spit polish, and they can finally submit to a deadline.

Here's an article detailing the announcement, as well as some sweet information on their set up at PAX: Torchlight II | One Week Until PAX!

Not yet, but Friday is the date they will announce the announcement they're supposed to announce via announcing the announcement. What the actual release date will be is anyones guess, but I'm holding on sometime in September, maybe early October.
