The hardest game ever, aside from Dark Souls, is Aliens versus Predator 1. Especially as an alien.

Dark Forces was stupid difficult when you were 5 and had a limited understanding of anything you were doing. Not even joking.

Try Tribes Vengeance, that is one hard mutha of a game. It starts out looking sweet and innocent, with that Romio and Juliet type slant to it, but some of the sp missions on anything but Easy mode start becoming a bitch to handle.

It's a cool and fairly original game though, with segments that feel very mp and a few different characters you play as during the course of the campaign.

As for hardest game ever.... The Terminator on the Sega Game Gear.
Twelve people including myself, couldn't get past the very first level of the game.
It was like Ninja Gaiden's (on PS2 & Xbox) tutorial level on steroids.

I found the game when I was eleven. It was almost a year before I learned there were controls other than the arrow keys and primary fire. It opened up an entirely new world when I figured out how to open doors.
