Any good freeware fighting games out there?

Does anyone know of any good freeware games that are Devil May Cry or God of War style with intense action and fighting techniques?

They don't have to have good graphics. They can even be 2-D but they have to have okay-ish collision detection and animations.

Anyone know of something like that? Last I heard was of a game called GUNZ which looked like DMC with the SW:JK third person view but it didn't work on my computers for some reason so does anyone know of any good games of such a style?

EDIT: You can also suggest a mod, if you like, which makes the playstyle for a game to something like these high-speed action games.

You know just about anything that is highly difficult but easy to master and gives a high octane/adrenaline feel once you get the hang of it.

A fun 2d fighting game is Jazz Jackrabbit 2. It is rather old, so it should be available as freeware or abandonware, for example on Home of the Underdogs.
