Is farmville awesome, y/n. Post your thoughts. kthx. I think it's an AMAZINGLY thought out game and has tons of depth and playability.

I don't think I should get into it, saw various games & applications on other people's FB walls but I don't really feel like spending much time on such games myself... How much effort does it require? =p

I use it but I never get when people get addicted. If you want that kind of game play Ogame or something.

I tried playing Farmville once to see what all the fuss was about.
I observed that it was about gardening.
Then I saw it took days at a time for the game to progress very much.

And then I quit.

Farmville is a big no no!

Facebook can actually be pretty useful. It's about as much use as coming onto this forum...

For most people that use it, I'd probably say less. With these forums you get the opportunity to interact with people you'd never otherwise meet from all other the world without necessarily giving any of yourself away. Whereas most of the people most interact with on Facebook are people they see every day, or at least every other week. What's the point of keeping "in touch" online if you see them so often?

I use Facebook to keep in touch with my cousins, who live 800 miles away and who I get to see every 5 years (if I'm lucky). That was the primary reason I registered for it.

People who play farmville are crazy.

I used to have a female friend. She picked up farmville and I have not talked to her since then. She took my computer from me to check on her farm when we met last.

I used to play mafia wars then I realized it was stupid so I quit. There was a farmville parody that had the player growing marijuana and other things.

Exactly. Why do i need to always talk to them online if i see them often enough? Same goes for Myspace, never been on it, and don't plan too. I understand how it would be great for keeping in touch with distant friends and relatives, but that's what i use email, IM programs, or my cell phone for.

I don't have anything against it, i just don't see a reason to use it myself.

Facebook just isn't the place to play games at.

THEREFORE: FACEBOOK --> USELESS

Perhaps if it gets a good game on it, it wouldn't be useless. Perhaps a Farmville with accelerated game speed? Or a Mafia Wars that doesn't $#!* up my computer?

2) Farmville took about 6 months to get 50 million players

3) Farmville has more than 30 million players a day.

I guess you can use money to buy FB credits? I haven't really looked into it. I got some "free" credits after doing a few tests and read something about using a creditcard to buy credits. But I won't bother with these credits, let alone pay real money to obtain them...

Facebook as a tool is actually a useful system. It's the way that some people use it that sucks.

Farmville, on the other hand, does indeed suck.

I played it a while ago. There was a dual currency system - coins and FV Cash (or something). Coins could be used to buy minor things, like more crops, and was earned through harvesting crops.

Cash was earned by advancing in level, or by buying it with real money. Cash could be used to advance major steps (ie expand your farm, buy advanced tools).

Then there's the social involvement. To expand your farm, you either need to get a number of friends playing, or buy it with real money. Most people did both.

all of my friends are non-gamers, but they all play farmville. it's better than nothing.

It's simply because people who are 'non-gamers' think that real RTS' and browser games are sad. However they do indeed like the whole expanding leveling up system so when presented with one which is not classed as nerdy or anything they love it.

plus it's sad to pay for farmville.

Farmville is just about habits though, I like games that make you think more than click the same things every day.

I'd like to note that even my 'Farmer's Kids Iowan' friends think Farmville is the lamest thing that ever existed.

Or maybe that's why they do, I'm not really sure. :lookaround:

that more or less sums up my opinion of farmville.

as for facebook, now i've finished school, i use it to keep in touch with my friends- at this stage, it is very useful, socially speaking.
