Another lock up guy here!

It's almost funny to read all the frustrated posts, only thing is: I've got the same probs. I start the game, it runs a few minutes, lock up and I have to press resart once again.
I hope some body has the nerve to read my
DxDiag and thaum.err to give me a good tip!
By the way I've recently noticed the same problem occurs with UT as well:

Try installing the 6.18 Detonator 3 drivers from www.nvnews.net. Thanks.

If that doesn't work try the new official detonator drivers: the detonator 6.50 driver.

You can get these drivers here:
http://www.nvidia.com/products.nsf/h...etonator3.html

Ok. I'll try that first.
I've updated the creative drivers just recently though,
(A matter fact also due to the lockups!)
I'll inform you what came out of this.

Well, it still crashes after installing the Nvidia detonator 6.5 driver.
I suspect the problem in the soundcard: the most "reliable" lock up is listing to the gods speech bevor choosing for the level.
I've also downloaded the latest soundblaster driver, but sadly there was no sign of improvement.....

I suppose u can try and turn music off and see if that works! Else I would give getting M/B bios a try, it worked for me. I downgraded my Bios as the latest bios did not work. I guess the latest bios didn't think about stability issue over fixes.

IP_CSJK February 7th, 2001 10:16 AM

Have you tried the 6.18 drivers? These were the ones actually tested with Sacrifice during development.

Gil-Gahllad February 8th, 2001 01:06 PM

Well I've tried every version adviced given here (it's taken a while to un- and reinstall each driver version) but it didn't change a thing: 10 Minutes game to the max, then lockup.
Like posted at first I've cross checked it with UT with the same lockups.
(Fortunately my CS runs fine ;D )
So it doesn't seem to be the driver issue as I've also got the 4.11.01.0711 Sb driver by now on board.
What could it be then? Could somebody who knows the stuff check my dxdiag?

Cause CS is fine, but I would like to play at least every once & a while Sacrifice whithout bother http://www.veforums.com/wink.gif
Thanks

What is the brand of your motherboard? Do you got the VIA chipset? If you do, then install the 4in1 driver [agp driver in standard mode and the Viamach.INF only]
http://www.viatech.com/index.htm

Gil-Gahllad February 8th, 2001 03:07 PM

Well I've got a GigaByte BX-2000 board,
it's got an Intel 440BX Chip. Bios is up to date.
