Default Games or a Series that Need More Recognition

Ever played a game that you thought was just simply amazing but isn't really one of the most popular out there? Mention that game you've played here and tell why you think it should get more recognition. For me I have 5:

Crackdown - Seriously people, this game is amazing. It's basically Grand Theft Auto as a super-soldier. You can jump 50 feet in the air, throw semi trucks like they were rocks, you have vehicles that are incredibly fun to drive, (Agency Buggy freestyle anyone?). And the game gets even better when you get all of the downloadable content. The "Keys to the City" feature you can download enables cheats that make the game so much more incredible. The storyline isn't the best, but it's not bad either. The graphics are okay, and there is a huge selection of music in the game. None of the music is the popular music by popular artists, but it's still very good. To me this game needs a lot more people playing it, it's one of the best games I've ever played. Everyone probably bought it at first just because it had the Halo 3 Beta that came with it, but maybe never did realize what such a great game they had on their hands. I think this game needs a lot more recognition then it already has.

Devil May Cry - This series, especially Devil May Cry 4, is in my top 5, and will remain there for as long as I live. This series needs so much more recognition it's not funny. Sure it's a hack 'n' slash, a genre that's often looked down upon, but this series isn't just all "press random buttons to kill the bad guy". Technique and skill is very much required to play this series. There are a variety of skill levels, some for veteran players and some for beginners, to apply to people that are new to the genre or fans of it. The music in the game is great, and will most likely make you want to buy the soundtrack. Plus, what's more bad@$$ then playing the air guitar while surrounded by demons with giant executioner blades? Or a sword powered by a nitrous-like "Exceed" system, a revolver that shoots two bullets at once, or a suitcase that transforms itself into laser cannon? The storylines are great and keeps you wanting more, as does the gameplay and graphics. "Incredible" doesn't even describe how good these games are.

Ninja Gaiden - Like the Devil May Cry series, this series is also a hack 'n' slash, but lives up to the genre name more then Devil May Cry does. **I will focus on Ninja Gaiden 2, as it's probably the most recognized of the series so far, as well as the most recent. And in my opinion, better then the others.** Ninja Gaiden 2's gameplay is fast paced, epic, and full of action. The music is well directed, graphics are very good, as well as an epic storyline. Though this is probably the hardest game I've ever played, (The last boss in the game might very well cost you another controller) once play through the games a couple times, getting the weapons leveled up, your health increased, and just generally getting better at it, that last boss (or more accurately 3 very hard bosses in a row) will be mere distractions. Don't let the difficulty of the game scare you off though. When you get the hang of it, it's very much worth the effort of the first time you face those last three bosses. And I'll be honest with you, defeating those last three bosses for the first time, even on the lowest difficulty, is incredibly hard. But it gets much easier as you play. I can defeat all three of those bosses without dying now, and I'm not that good at the game considering the other people out there. Trust me, this game does not disappoint.

And to a lesser extent, these games seem to be slightly more popular then the ones mentioned above, but still need more recognition then what they already have.

Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War (NOT THE TABLE-TOP!!!) - This is a real-time strategy (RTS) game, and is a perfect example of the genre. If you like the table-top, then you'll like the games, especially Dawn of War 2. I don't play the table-top, so I wouldn't exactly know how similar the games are to it, but Dawn of War 2 is as close as your going to get to the table-top. There are great mods for these games too, and with the high variety of the different "races" you can play in each game, (Up to 9 in Dawn of War Soulstorm, but a disappointing 4 in Dawn of War 2) the gameplay and action comes in many different flavors. The music in all games are very good, and suits the Dawn of War universe very well. The opinion on how good the storylines are vary from person to person, but the graphics could get some improvement, (with the obvious exception of Dawn of War 2, which looks incredible considering it's an real-time strategy game) But speaking of that, you can't expect the graphics of real-time strategy games to be as incredible has Halo 3's graphics. That's not to say they're bad however. Using the mouse-wheel to zoom in on the battlefield and characters will decrease the texture of how everything looks, but when zoomed out, the graphics are reasonable. Love it or hate it, this is a great series.

F.E.A.R. - This series will most likely be the scariest games you'll ever play. It's a perfect mix of classic first-person shooter action, and edge-of-you-seat moments of suspense and horror that will keep you playing the game. One moment you'll be in an epic firefight with a squad of enemies, the next you'll have the game paused out of pure shock and terror of what you just saw in the dimly lit room of an abandoned warehouse. The story lines are well written, the graphics are very good looking, and all in all, a great game.

Now I'd really like someone to prove me wrong that any of the games I mentioned aren't as popular as I myself think they are. I'm very disappointed of the recognition and popularity these games get, they deserve much more. If you can think of any games you've played that need more people playing them, tell us here.

Well, Crackdown is getting a sequel that has been 2 years in the making.

4 player online co-op, destructive envrioments (yet to be confirmed), a whole new load of vehicle types and mutants.

Hows that for recognition, lol?

I knew there was going to be a sequel, the E3 trailer looked amazing. And the sequel does sound like it will be just as good, if not better, as the first. It looks like they did a pretty good improvement on graphics too. I just hope they don't take anything good out like they did for leaning (around corners) in F.E.A.R 2 Project Origin. That made me mad....

Yeah Crackdown 2 should give the soon-to-be series a lot more recognition. And besides I wasn't counting sequels in-the-making. lol

Crackdown is owned by nearly every 360 owner, it came with Halo 2 or 3 or something.

FEAR was a very popular game, many bought it.

I didn't say not a lot of people bought it, I just said it should be more popular than it already is.

And Crackdown is owned by nearly every 360 owner most likely because it came with the Halo 3 Beta, they probably didn't buy it for the game itself. You basically just restated what I already said.

Im pretty sure that all of those games are pretty popular. If it were some indie games I'd have to agree, but that list is full of big-time games.

I just thought of it because i happen to be playing at the moment: Max Payne 2.

I love this game. It just never seemed to take off or become as popular as the first though, and i never see it even get mentioned anywhere.

I installed that a few days ago, oooh the memories. Isn't there a third game coming out soon?
