Wait, what? They didn't even have a beta yet? Sheesh...

They already had one closed beta, and anyone who participated in that is guaranteed access to the next one. They are still taking registrations for newcomers, though. Better hurry up!

I've lost count of how many "guess who's been playing a lot of Team Fortress 2" jokes I've heard about Battefield Heroes' graphics.
You're telling me. If you really want to bitch about unoriginal graphics in a free game, go right ahead. =p

Eh, I'm not particularly thrilled about it. The game is employing a Free to Play, Pay to Win system and that's an automatic no-no in my book. God forbid the game is successful and EA switches to the system completely. A new dark age of gaming is around the corner.

Any free game is going to have optional paid content, and that's inevitable. MMORPG's, FPS's, anything.

With a few exceptions, yes. But that's why I have yet to find a free game I can take seriously. To be honest, I'd rather pay for an even playing-field, then get slaughtered for free.

I understand where you're coming from. I have faith that they will keep it fairly balanced, though. They do have a good history of that with BF2 and 2142. I have both games, but I never bought any of the expansions or bonus content for either, and I never got the feeling that I was suffering for it.

i've heard of the game awhile ago, watched a few trailers a few months back. after that no one i was subscribed to on youtube had any trailers for it.

but i may try it.

also this game reminds me of both TF2 and battalion wars.

Look at the past EA games. The Sims, their sports games, all of them. Milked dry.
To be frank, there's not much innovation with Heroes. It's basically same old gameplay with a new (or old, if you play TF2) game engine. Nothing spectacularly new. As Zam says, the game itself will still be free; if it weren't, nobody would play it in favour of better EA games/mods (FH2, for example).

Battlefield: Heroes Runs on Source? I'm surprised, I had just assumed they stuck with a heavily modified Bf2 Engine.

No, it uses a version of the Battlefield 2142 engine, not Source. I think Pedantic was referring to the graphical theme, not the engine itself.
