I havent a clue what to do.Im a fanatic of MMORPG's and WoW is calling out to me.I have played it before and have the disc ready but I uninstalled it because I found it too difficult and complicated.When I quit my friend told me its always like that at the start and once I get over that its great.Is it??I mean it always makes me wonder,how can a game be so bad if it has over 11 million subscribers???

The more players, the higher the chance of game-ruiners, whiny young children and the like, and no matter how much you spend to gain an advantage you know you'll never be the most powerful user EVER.
I'd prefer getting MMORPGs that are free to play and you spend to gain advantage. Free to play online but discs are also fine.
I hate it when people say that "WoW isn't a bad game because over 11 million people play it" (Note that i don't mind that you've said it, my friends who play it state it as fact)
Anyway, back on topic, i think you should just leave it alone. You don't want to get far enough in for it not be complicated, because by that time It will have eaten your soul.

If you find a good private server then you are set.
WoW... hard? I tried it with my friend and it was not very interesting, nor was it hard to level up. I am sure it would be hard to be one of the best PvPers and such; however, that goes for most games (where you can pvp). I did not find the general gameplay hard at all as long as you make sure you understand how the game works. Like quite a few games, if you just jump in without any understanding of the game, it will seem hard and it will take a while.
That being said, I do not see why it has 11 million players simply because it seemed very repetitive and held zero interest for me. Maybe that's just me, though. Maybe I just opened up pandora's box by stating that on a gaming forum...
Are private servers even legal if they don't pay the company?
No, they're illegal. If Blizzard discovers anyone playing on a private server, they'll not only ban your ass off, but also have a reason to sue what remains of it off.
I play it from time to time, i've never gotten further than level 40, but something keeps drawing me back. It's like an invisible force saying "No matter how much you screw up, some kind soul will help you out". I have yet to become addicted, and i've been a member since mid-06.
Give it a try, and don't be afraid. The "addiction" is mental only. My friend has quit 3 times, but returned because of lack of stuff to do. It's true you can get addicted, but all you do to avoid that is play new and fun games inbetween your sessions.
