Assassins creed recently came out on PC (In UK it did anyways) Its already out of stock at play.com so has anyone here got it? I'd like to see other peoples views on the PC version, what the differences are between console and PC etc..

I actually haven't played it myself, but it looks a lot like the normal console -> PC port rule of thumb applies; it's better than the original, but not by enough that you should buy it if you already have that.

I have it, the game is a really good port, the control scheme, customization e.t.c. are well done, it doesn't leave the bad console taste in your mouth. Having gotten about halfway through it so far, I'd have to say that this is not a 50$ game. It's quite repetitive, and I'm certain ill be putting it down in a couple of hours, only to come back to it in a moth or so. So if you're not in a hurry, wait until the price drops, or for some sort of fancy Steam sale. Plus keep in mind that the system requirements are awfully high, so make sure you can run it.

The repetetiveness is not due to bugs but rather little to no variation in the types of missions and fighting you do. They added a few mission types in the PC version, but from what I've read they are not as good as the original ones. However, if you like the idea of running through a crowd, scaling rooftops, viewing the well detailed and vast cityscape, then diving into a hay cart you may not mind. You can also opt to get from city to city via horseback vs warping there.

Some also like the stealth, fighting against numerous guards at once and the escapes, but the AI is rather dumb and somewhat nullifies any sense of challenge in it. You can literally go into the hands clasped stealth pose after murdering someone within ten feet of a guard as he walks over and asks who did that, then walk right behind him and kill him too. While fighting several guards surrounding you, only one will attack at a time while the rest watch you kill him.

That being said, the realism of the graphics and melee are some of the best I've seen in a swordplay game. Altair can pull off some great fighting manuevers and you see the sword thrust through and blood spurt. This definitely ain't no whack em over the head Thief game. The story is fairly intricate and interesting with a twist to it but there doesn't seem to be enough complexity to the action to keep up with it.

Honestly, I can't wait. It sounds awesome.

Thanks for the reply, to be honest i only think the game looked good because you could scale buildings, the combat didn't look that great in trailers. The reason i'm interested in this though is i'm a bit sick of next gen first person shooters, thats all they're releasing lately..

If you've not already done so, check out the videos at GameTrailers.com. They have some that are more raw gameplay footage than fluff trailer type movies. http://www.gametrailers.com/game/2581.html
