*Pouts*I cant even play on the net until AEA week, when we move into our newlybuilt house and I dO get net access on this comp.(I've only had this comp since X-mas,and my dad didn't feel like running wire and all that crap). But once we move in...I'ma play all these friggin maps!
Anyways...PsychicT,wheres that pic of yer PWF map?Can you tell me?Heck...does anyone have any pics of there maps?If so..post!For the sake of everyone!
I should have decided to just go to bed. Well, since I force myself to check the forum, I'm going to upload my Beautiful Sunset map ASAP and hopefully people can play it.
I thought it was nice... it was different... meaning, it wasn't pattern based. Maybe Player 3 had to be a bit more balanced, but I found it fun, that's the important thing. The contest, my map... life in general.
My map didnt make it in.. it was really well designed.. i spent well over 150 hours on it, and another 8 or 10 in-game testing. Anyways... Its Called "Peaks of Empyrea", i sent it to SacrificeCenter, So if ya want, grab it.. maybe someone will appreciate all the work that went into it...
Holy crap, 150. Well I went straight to Sacrifice Center to download the result of this amazing effort, and was inextricably bogged down in the map-listing system. I can only look at page one and search doesn't work, what's that about? That used to be the map source that actually worked for me... gah. Well if you put your map up somewhere else, Earn, I for one will try it. :]
I've been posting for over a year... it's about time I rule something!
Here's my link to my map (I had to zip it because the upload caused bad CRCs... ???... I think that's the term... so usually zipping stuff solves that problem... don't ask me why) http://uk.y42.briefcase.yahoo.com/bc...view=l&.last=1
Right click on the file and download it and unzip it into your maps directory.
Have fun! Beautiful Sunset was intended for a tribute to Poopsie that never took off until this contest came along. I know... I should have used Percy... but James was my favourite tileset (I hope Pyro doesn't hear about this.) I forgot who made the James tileset, so kudos to him, too.
Oh well, I didn't win. Damn. Oh well, I wasn't expecting too, considering the competition I was up against. Good job to all the winners, I'm sure your maps are great, and I look forward to playing them.

This is not a flame, just a word to the wise.
ahahahahahahaahah!!!!
SO TRUE!
GREAT POINT! I LOVE YOU!
muhahahahaha!
/me plots his revenge
I've been looking at all the maps that shiny has judged "good" and i have found that they display one similar feature, they all some how collide in the middle.
My favorite map is Alpine Meadows because the battle can take place on three fronts. No one really is sure which it is going to be and the souls are slightly out of the way(not directly in the middle). I happene to dislike maps like Hamburger Hill and to some extent that map "F******* Revisited" i cant remember the name...it was 4 player. Anyways, so i built my maps to have some originality in them, i dont want MOFS(more of the same). i think fights in the middle call for little strategy and quicker reflexes than any thing.
I also thought that too much symmetry in the objects, laid out on the landscape, was boring. layout symmetry was important but i dont like getting lost on a map that is totally symmetrical. i tried to make them "realistic" i added variety and realsim and promoted the use of teleportation(my favorite spell) in them. argh! i care not that i didn't win at all, but that the maps that i have seen nominated just seem like MOFS. IMO that stinks :/
I really hope that the winning map is deservingly so. hell, i'll vote for Excilus' map if it is rightfully so. I just hope that the winning map isn't a formula

one manlith in front of alter for base guadrding.
one manlith between that and the contact point for added mana supply.
four manaliths, souls and creatures at the contact point to fight over.

yea the winner of the game controls the middle. weeeeee!
