are the mages different in some ways?

in the solo campain the little imp dude says that acheron is restistant to magic while the imp said about htat one stratos girl that she's fast..... is there a diffrence?

Well the speed of the wizards definately differs, although I'm not sure about some being resistent to magic, etc.

They are only different in SP though...

This thread was discussed already. The wizards are all the same speed though their animations are diffirent.
