Voodoo 5 - game goes to black screen at start up...

As soon as the Interplay splash window goes away and the game window appears - the whole screen goes black and evey so often lines can be seen flashing here and there...

Vooodoo 5 driver version 1.04.0 (most current according to the 3dfx website)
Soundblaster Live

I got the Voodoo 5 3 days ago and just replaced my power supply to make it work yesterday (I have a 300 watt).

It runs Quake 3 in "Fastest Performance" mode
Unreal Tourney runs in the same.
Counter-Strike only runs in software..

What the hell is wrong with Sacrifice??

From our troubleshooting guide:

Use Driver version 1.01

(OR)

With Driver 1.03.00 Geometry Assist must be enabled.

Directions for enabling Geometry assist

1) Open the 3dfx Advanced Features from the 3dfx Tools tray icon or through Windows
2) Desktop Advanced Display Properties
3) Open the D3d box
4) Open the Geometry Assist box
5) Enable Geometry Assist and reboot the system
6) Run Sacrifice and choose the Direct 3D T&L HAL option

Max Resolution 1600x1200 32-bit

We will do all we can to help ... but in future if I were you I would take the time to read the many similar posts that have already been made about this problem.

Ok, I dont have a PIII so I cant use geometry assist.

AND

I cant go back and use 1.01.00 drivers cause as far as I know they arent compatible with Directx 8 - and from what I see Directx8 cant be uninstalled.


BUT - good news... I did finally get things working when I changed my refresh rate to 75.

Sorry if I sounded bitchy - I'v had a rough week with this damn Voodoo 5

Oh and as much as I looked - I coulndt find one post that addressed the same problem I was having...maybe Im blind tho

Ok i did the same thing with my voodoo5 card, but the game still crashes numerous time's, or whenever it feels like it.
