Default Driver Problem in Crysis Demo

I ran the first part of the demo last night (Vista X64, Core2Duo E6700, 4 gb DDRII, 8800 GTS) and the game ran pretty smoothly --- once I managed to get it to run at all. Every time I tried to start the game from the Vista Games Explorer or from the executable in the Bin64 folder, I got the following message:

The application failed to start because d3dx10_34.dll could not be found.

Running the game in DX9 mode from Games Explorer resulted in the same message, only with d3dx9_34.dll as the missing driver. I also had this problem with the Hellgate London beta software. I have these supposedly missing driver files in both my Windows/system32 folder and the Windows/syswow64 folder; I even copied and pasted them into the Bin64 folder, but no luck.

The Hellgate forums and the EA Crysis forums have not been able to help me solve this problem, so I was hoping that someone here might have some suggestions. Would the Nvidia beta drivers help me here? I know that I can play the game in 32-bit mode in DX9, but if I can get the game to run in 64-bit DX10, it would be great. Any help anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated.

I think you need some sort of hotfix to get it to run on Vista. Take a look at the readme, I think they write about it there.

I ran the hotfix that they mentioned and rebooted the system before I tried to run the game for the first time.
