After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? Well, we know now that the sequel is on the way. But the big question is... will you be abandoning GW for GW2 - throwing away all your hard work thus far - or will you strike a balance between both games, or is GW2 not the game for you? Me? Mix of both. GW2 looks interesting, but I won't be jumping on the bandwagon as soon as it's out. Invested a lot of time and effort into my GW toons to just cast them aside. |
Well i havent gotten that far with GW yet so i guess i probably will be playing more of GW2 but ofcourse i wont throw my accoutn away from GW. I mean if suddenly you had to pay monthly fees for GW2 or something like the game broke down for a couple hours. You could just go back to GW and play there. If you think of it now that there would be way less players there you could get all the dyes and everything for way less cash. :deal: |
I like WOW best and i think GW is also interesting but it is as interesting as WOW. |

well... I am a stones throw away from finishing Eye of the north. I was soo disappointed in prophacies that i pulled my mesmer from it so i could level it in factions. Finished factions.... Finished Nightfall.... I would say at this point, before GW2 comes out, i will be finishing the game with 6 out of my 8 toons. Now by finishing i mean, each game with all 6. When Gw2 comes out, i will be playing that. I can definitely say i have gotten my money's worth from GW. |

No. But then again, I didn't like Guild Wars and I won't be buying II. |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? I am probably going to stick with the origional one because I still havent got very far with GW1. |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? I got rid of GW1, so I will not be playing it. |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? Ill balance them. But for the while being im still busy questing in GWars proph, NF, Factions, and EotN. Maybe in a year or 3 lol :P |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? There are soo many new builds to consider with this game now. You can't just say " oh i made it to level 20 and beat it" and be done with it. Soo many other skills that you can search for... Titles to be had. Ridiculous the amount of work they have put into it that people just breeze over. |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? Gw2 does look interesting, you can play as Charr :P |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? Sorry for double post, but does anyone know if GW2 is going to be free to play? |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? The basis of GW was to give an alternative to those who didn't want to " pay to play" like WoW .... If i were to venture a guess i would say, it will not be pay to play. |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? I hope so anyway, GW was great for a year or so but then it got boring, IMO. Hopefully GW2 will be a big improvment. |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? Guild Wars 2 will be free, im sure of it. You can't really change from free to monthly pay, Especially when GW2 is in the same series as GW. |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? Yes I'll stop playing GW - I'm thinking about stopping already. Hopefully GW2 will bring me back. |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? When is GW2? |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? No release date on the horizon as of yet.... |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? I've heard a very tentative date for some first open betas some time this year. And if it goes along somewhat like Prophesies it could be a year further from then until it is set to be released. |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? I didn't play GW too much (8 hours tops) because of WoW but depending on my WoW status at the time of GW2's release, I'd really like to get into it and try it out. I guess it also depends on Blizzard's new MMO that is in the works and how close the release dates will be between the two. A bunch of coworkers and I had originally planned to get into GW for months before it's release. We pre-ordered and jumped in the beta and everything but then WoW took our attention by surprise. I wonder if history will repeat itself?? |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? 'I'll balance a bit of both...' definatly, but mostly the second one. |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? I'll see how the second one is. I played the first a good amount, though not a ton. I played it when I got it, and now am getting back into it. I'm guessing I'll completely ditch the first for the second game... I really never made much progress in the first anyway. |

Anyway, i don't know what i'll do. My computer will probably be too crap to handle it, so i'll probably just stick with GW |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? i lost intrest in GW after i bought eye of the north..waste of money imo took me 2 days to finish the "elite" challenges...my level 14 pre-ranger could finish that expansion. hopefully gw2 will have some improvments like better npc ai (maybe they could move) and perhaps have jobs and be able to make stuff like in wow (not a wow fan but it has good ideas) wouldnt mind if we could migrate chars from guild wars into the 2 i would love to use my racist luxon champ TURDICKS!!!! (thats a word i thought of back in the day which offends kurzicks. YES I THOUGHT OF IT. BUT I DONT DOUBT OTHERS DID ASWELL!) |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? I'm looking forward to GW2 and will be leaving GW behind. I suspect the reason why some are wary of it is a combination of the time spent and fear of loss of imagined 'status' within the original. These games are, for some essentially that; a chance to feel some status and superiority in a virtual world that they feel they lack in the real one. I'm not knocking that, but i feel it's undeniable by all except the ones it affects most deeply. If it were not the case the horrible word noob would not be bandied about so much. The highest insult in the game refers to the givers often unfounded views on the time spent and ability of other players. It's pathetic being called a noob by some lemon in Istani armour while I'm standing there in Norn prestige and Chaos gloves telling him to calm down because he can't buy my Destroyer axe for less than it cost to make it.(happened recently...can you tell?) My Destroyer rack is full, finished off by a perfect Pyroclastic drop at the end of FOW..hurrah! My pets are dedicated, my heros are smart and lined up, my armour sets are hung, my titles are shiny and I'm ready to claim my name. I want to leave the rest behind, looking forward to it. Consider this...all the time you spent is not lost if you enjoyed it. If it was just a grind for status then you deserve to be taught to smell the flowers before you stamp on the Char. Bring on my new Norn incarnation I say. Bring on new unfamiliar stuff again. There's only so much joy you can get from being a cynical old hooker...oh to be a wide eyed virgin again. Lots of things can be improved that an expansion can't solve. First, instead of unenforced bans for abuse and mass bans for glitch exploiting, some words not being allowed to slip through even a filterless profile: noob, the other 'n' word, all the childish homophobic rubbish....the list goes on. How about some other improvements, like a communal Guild Chest for mats and weapons in your Hall? A public board for guild recruiters to avoid the incessant wittering of people trying to make officer by recruiting everyone and anyone? A proper system for stopping idiots spamming on chat? All these things are technically easy to achieve and would improve the playing experience. As you can see i have a problem with the word noob...idiots forget that arenanet get their money from new users buying the game, abusing them is ridiculous, they are after all the reason the server is free..no new players no GW. When all's said and done I have enjoyed all three campaigns and the EOTN expansion... but heres the big question...ready? WHY IN THE NAME OF WHATEVER DEITY YOU NEED TO GET YOU THROUGH THE NIGHT CAN YOU NOT TAKE CHAOS GLOVES TO GW2.. ARE THEY MAD? 430K'S WORTH OF GLOVES FROM EOTN AND THEY DONT GO IN THE ARMOUR SETS? PFFF!! Feel free to disagree, and I'll feel free to ignore you....perfect. |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? Quote:
Why are you worried by the fact that you can't add/bring them ? You can't bring ANYTHING. It is a NEW game. Different. Not an expansion. Could you bring your stuff over from any other game to the new edition? Noooo.... Feel free to respond and we will feel free to ignore you ignoring us ignoring you. Forum noobs, got to love em. I hate that word as well, but when the glove fits, you can't acquit ( shameless oj simpson joke.). |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? Okay calm down, put your knickers back on. Firstly, the 'ignore you' comment was at one time a tongue in cheek reference to an old convention of roleplaying games that you are plainly too young to remember or just plain unaware of, and at that same time an exhortation to have a different point of view and to share it, it being as valid as mine. Secondly, the chaos gloves comment was intended to point out exactly what you have concluded, that you cannot be selective with what you feel the rules should include based upon your own cicumstances. Well done for getting the point, shame you lost the irony.... |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? Oh, and by the way,, the noob comment says so much more about you than it does me that you're welcome to abuse me by calling me that anytime your sense of importance has been threatened...good for you. |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? i know what the comment was. Fact of the matter is m8, if the shoe fits wear it. My importance isn't threatened by anything. You're new, you don't know me from a hole in the wall. My use of the word ( while abhorrent ) puts you where you should be. Just like your claim about people looking for status. You condemn them, but yet you want to take something along with you. If that isn't a status search, i don't know what is. I understood the irony, but you can not expect to make a post like this and not get the LOGICAL point of view sprayed back at you... Cheers. |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? wow moan much? i agree is we are able to migrate players then they should be scacthed back to the basics, or it will just be another expansion where the longer players rule all and new players lose intrests very fast. because of the arogant older players. just reinstalled guild wars and are currently downloading the 5million files needed...to see if i can rekindle my passion for the game which i doubt. hopefully gw2 will be a breath of fresh air and not just a "halo3" of guild wars (by that i mean same shit newer graphics) |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? Oh, it's going to be far more like a WoW of Guild Wars. Personally I would prefer "same shit, newer graphics", with new features too, because frankly the formula of Guild Wars is what drew me to it as opposed to WoW. GW2, though, they appear to be dropping the instancing for all but missions and certain zones. Unless the beta truly impresses, I'm sticking with Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall and EotN. I'll buy GW2, simply because the profits will also aid ArenaNet in their planned continuation of support for GW. But like hell I'm gonna play it if it turns into an MMO clone. |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? Guild Wars is my favorite game. I couldn't even imagine just throwing mine in the trash and just moving on.......GW company need to make it where you can use your GW1 and GW1 titles in GW2...otherwise I ain't buying...I've put way to much work into my chars. I hope someone from arena net Cs this. |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? You won't be able to take your toons with you into the new game. It will be a NEW game. About all the titles and stuff, well you chose to do that with THESE toons. You should have worked on titles where you had a reason to. Like Kurzik skills and soo on. The hall of monuments is the good thing. |

Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? Probably balance them I would say, but if GW2 is honestly way better, then will have to go for the gold. |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? Still IDC if it's a fresh start...ppl put to much time in their toons so....GGGRRRRRRR!!! |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? How much time is ... too much time ? |
Re: After GW2 is released, will you stop playing GW? So far I have spent 4863 hours and 27 mins in all four GW campaigns and with what has been said about the "Hall of Monuments" I do not intend to leave everything behind.I have all my tapastries placed and every space filled with heros, minis, armor, weapons, pets(my primary is a ranger)so that my desendants will get some goodies when GW2 comes out.If GW2 is as good as GW was I will abandon GW in favor of the new game however,if thie new GW2 favors PVP over PVE...ie PVP'ers getting extra gold and goodies,I will not play GW one or 2 at all.I liked playing the story and don't like the PVP enviorment at all in this game....If I want to PVP I'll go play a combat flight sim or a good FPS.So abandoning GW1 if favor of GW2? I think, for me,It's a definite wait and see. |
